Sorry fellas Multiple drinks plus Indy Car race that led directly into an IU game was a bad recipe . I know it is what it is can’t do a damn thing about it. Just wanted to watch at least 1 game in the first round . Tourney loses so much of my interest without IU . Tired of just hate watching Purdue games also my grandfather is 89 years old big part of the reason why I’m and IU fan just wish we had something exciting and positive to talk about on the phone in regards to the program . He Has told me multiple times just wish they’d be good one more time in my life . We used to go to a game every year this year his health wasn’t good enough to make the trip was a bummer so I just hoped we could watch back inthe tourney instead . on to portal season and as always maybe next year

I know some will remember him fondly from his playing days, but Quinn Buckner will always be the #1 villain when it comes to IUBB for me. It's just too painful to imagine having Dusty in year 3 here right now.

I’m hopefully DeVries can take a similar trajectory as Todd Golden at Florida. Golden had a losing record in year 1. Year 2 was 24-12. Year 3 was a national title and they are rolling in year 4.

They had no shot to win against the top team’s at home either. It was better to have them on the road, even if statistically it made your schedule harder. Having Illinois and Michigan only once on the road is a nice break. Playing MSU twice stunk but it happens. Otoh we got Minny twice, NW, PU, Nebraska and Iowa at home and only managed to go 1-3 versus that latter group. At home. Either way, the roster has little to do with coming out and laying an egg in a deciding game at the end of the year. OSU might’ve had better athletes but they also have a poor coach. They’re similar to IU—or were going into that game—in almost every metric. Honestly, I barely watched after the first ten minutes. we had plans and I don’t care that much to make time to watch these guys. So if some of you that watched closer than me want to claim we did a really good job and the score doesn’t reflect our effort and preparation, then so be it. The first ten minutes looked like more of the same to me though.

IU could have been projected solidly in the field if they scheduled better in the non conference. No reason for the program as it is to today to be scheduling games like Kentucky and Louisville. Fans want them but they do 0 for the program and have done 0 for them the last 4 years. They have been easy Q1 wins for the other teams that help their resume. IU would have been better off scheduling lower level power 5 programs or even Miami(oh) and that would have giving them a better chance at improving their resume. Iowas “big” non conference wins this year were Grand Canyon and Ole Miss (4-14 in conference) and that gave them 2 Q1 wins.

If you want some hope you have to hope his roster building was a 1 time bad thing and he will build better for next year. However for this year he constructed a mid major all star team to play against a top 30 overall SOS and with unbalanced schedules in the B1G played the 2nd hardest B1G schedule out of 18 teams (Ohio State played the hardest). Tough sledding for a flawed roster. B1G is unforgiving. Purdues preseason number 1 team in the land could finish tied for 6th with UCLA if they win tomorrow and will be seeded 7th after tiebreakers with a ucla win

Crean's time was up. He lost the State and went 1-17 at UGA with a generational talent in Antman. The problem wasn't firing Crean...it was who we hired after. The guy we should never had let go was Kelvin. Forget Sweet 16s...we would've had National Titles.

Northern Iowa wins the MVC tourney as a sixth seed. Next stop: NCAAs. Ben Jacobson is in his 19th season there. Guess the bright lights of a P5 school never interested him. He was a hot commodity after UNI had a couple good NCAA runs many years ago. Either he didn't receive an offer that enticed him enough, or is happy in Cedar Falls.

Marquette had been rolling the last couple years so I don’t think anyone thought they would have taken a step back like they did. Most teams that schedule 4 power 4 teams in the non conference that are not part of a MTE (Maui, Bahamas, etc) do it because of where their program is and know their team can handle it. All I’m saying right or wrong is IU wants to schedule these marquee non conference games with successful programs like they are still at the top of college basketball. They would be better off scheduling in a way that would give them the best chance to win the most games. For instance this year schedule your 2 power 4 games with Marquette and K-State and then schedule a couple high mid majors at home or one at a neutral and you give yourself a better chance to be successful. Schedule this way until you get the program back to a point to where they are not getting embarrassed in every high high major non conference marquee games like they have the last 4 years. What’s the closest non conference game they have scheduled in the last 4 years? Seems like it’s been a while since they were competitive

It’s not. There aren’t even league officials. The B1G hasn’t done well in the tourney because there haven’t been any elite coaches in 20+ years. Izzo is the closest thing, he always does well in March, but historically he can’t compete with the recruiting of UK, KU, Duke, and UNC. Beilien and Bo made Final games when they recruited well. Knight had no problems in March and built a team Davis could take deep in March. Self even built a team good enough for Bruce Webber to take to the Final Four. Even Purdue made a title game where…they were beat by a team with more talent. The B1G has a coaching problem. IU’s one of the main culprits. Although maybe that’s changing with May at UM. The ref thing is just fan cope.

Not top 10 however a non con road game at a Net top 29 team and neutral court game against a Net top 13 team could of been replaced with other home games that could of produced a higher chance of a better record. Overall I’m saying the philosophy of playing Arizona, Louisville, Kentucky or Kansas or not beneficial to IU as a program right now. Scheduling lesser power 4 programs should be the move until IUs program is at a place where they can win back to back winning conference records

And I know you were joking, but I think they just really suck at guarding the 3 point line. Wisconsin went 18 of 34 from deep. We shot really well in the United Center last time we were there so here's hoping.

I have ties to BSU, so I know a little about their program. If Lewis has connections, they probably aren't good ones. He wasn't much of a recruiter in his time there, and most of his players didn't like him. He fired Ben Botts, a widely respected member of his staff, after last season, and Botts was immediately hired at currently unbeaten Miami. Maybe there's a role for him here, but I'm not sure what it would be.

Probably meaningless but since DDV has said they’re still recruiting ‘26 kids I thought I’d throw it in here. My favorite ‘26 that I saw in person this year. Very good athlete. Smooth as silk. Wired scorer but plays under control. Could be the best pure shooter in the class, Has a little bit of secondary facilitator to him, though he’s definitely score 1st. Gave Jason Crowe, top 5 ‘26, all he wanted in a showcase event near me. Big fan. If he’s legitimately open, and I sort of doubt that but who knows, he’s worth going all in on. Kid’s gonna play in the League.

I actually think it's encouraging that DeVries is willing to admit his mistakes. I prefer this to the previous know-it-all that refused to listen to anyone. It sounds like DeVries is willing to make the adjustments needed to win in the Big Ten.

I don't really have any confidence in Devries, but I also think this past coaching search showed us that no one is coming to save IU basketball. We're gonna have to find a guy who can build something here. And Devries is getting 3 years at least regardless, so we'll just have to hope he can land enough talent in the portal to win at a level we'd be happy with.

I get that Woody is his friend and he was looking out for him. But dammit, there was just no indication whatsoever that he would be successful in that role. Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Zip. Nada.

Michigan game has been really good.

Now this is a program with a culture and Shonda Stanton deserves huge props for reloading after so much personnel loss. Won 6-4 to take the series over Minnesota. Pitching is always so-so but she has built an offense and program with a winning identity that uses the long ball to an elite level. You also see the joy in the dugout and how much the players love playing for her.

The Big Ten Conference plays an outdated style of basketball. It’s overly physical and interior centric. Thus the struggle in March. I’d imagine if you weren’t an IU fan and had no interest in the conference, you would choose other conferences 9 out of 10 times. Adapt or die.

I said devries needed to win big early. This off season will be critical but will be hard to get NIL donations in a big way if nobody has confidence in the product imo. Fan moral is at a all time low. Today won't help with any of that. Guess we will see what happens in big tournament.
