Apparently, he put off his signing to today to allow teammate Miles Sadler to have full attention to make his announcement. If so that’s a very gracious move. Speaks highly of the kid.

  2. Tweet from Raby - 2026 four-star wing Vaughn Karvala (@vaughnK2026_) , a national top-50 prospect from @BellaVistaHoops and @team_herro , tells http://Peegs.com he signed with Indiana today.

  4. In today's environment you have to look at every player as a 1-year rental. Bring in a Leavitt and Alberto could decide to shop around. Just the way it is today.

  5. Pretty nuts when the first major "name" to allegedly go portaling (Leavitt) immediately is getting penciled in as IU's next starter by non-IU people online. Right, wrong, indifferent it's just a wild perception shift.

  6. With all the turnover in the coaching carousel and IU being in a stable and high performing position, hopefully we can land a monster portal haul. Excited to follow football recruiting after our second consecutive CFP appearance.

  7. You called this one correctly. Huge pick up. :)

  8. Yes. But he was 8-23 fg, 1-5 3pt, three TOs, and he fouled out in 27 minutes. Miami lost by 14. Wasn't all sunshine.

  9. Great discussion! I betcha the staff already has a pretty good idea about whether Alberto will be our main guy next year.

  11. Maybe, but the overwhelming majority of people in that locker room weren't part of that 66-0 blowout. 53 new players via the portal which is 2nd highest in the nation. Totally new coaching staff. Payback won't be on the minds of most on the Purdue sidelines even though NBC announcers will try hard to convince viewers otherwise.

Bargesser thru 4 games 17.3 points per game at 56.9 % fg, 75% ft, 3.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds for 29.5 minutes per game. Alot of work over the summer.

  15. Yeah the big winner in this year's coaching carousel is Va Tech. PSU will end up regretting their decision to let Coach Franklin go.

  17. I obviously trust the staff, but I’d think we take advantage of this Fernando momentum (wins, Heisman chance, draft pick) and try and get another big time QB in the portal. Obviously a guy like Fernando makes a big difference! But, I’ll just watch a learn with this staff. If they like Alberto that’s cool. He shorter with less arm strength that Fernando, but he’s more athletic and has been in the system a long time. The staff really like him.

  18. Who ever it is he will have to earn the start! Nothing given.

  19. Sure is. I don’t want Medoza to ever leave. lol. He’s one of my all tie favorites. Just and awesome human being. Smart, tough, the most ideal teammate. He will be greatly missed. Coach Cig knows ball, but he has a tough decision to make next year on if Alberto can be the guy. I think the formula of finding the 6’5” guy that has the skill set and mentality out of the portal is hard to ignore especially as our ability to hand pick the guy increases.

  22. Yeah, I hate the new version of it. On the old free (unmoderated lol) board, they would completely shred each other

  23. Last year's curb stomp on those effs up north probably still has a salty taste in their locker room up there. Throw the records out the window. I expect this game to be chippy and hard nosed.

  24. A world class example of equating leaping ability and athleticism. He can really jump, particularly off 2 feet, and he runs pretty well. But he’s not twitchy. He’s average laterally. He’s high cut and doesn’t bend his knees. Average hands. Not strong. And yet if you read about him everything will be some derivative of, “he might be the best athlete in the ‘26 class.” Nope. Not saying he’s not talented because he is, but that one is one of my pet peeves. Not the kid’s fault, just lazy evals.

  25. Purely FWIW. Washington had an offer from WVU while DDV was its head coach. And he played HS ball in Murfreesboro, TN so there's a good chance he's familiar with Rod Clark.

  26. My good friend and high school teammate's son coaches the Butler women's team. I had lunch with him last week and he said that Butler has a new roster via the portal and if I remember correctly their best player is hurt. Unless we don't show up we should probably be ok.

They must have made one hell of a promise on NIL to get him to pull the trigger this early. But I’d much rather try to make the playoffs through the ACC than from Arkansas or some other 2nd tier SEC school.

  28. Haha. I love CFB drama. Especially when it doesn't really affect me and I can just enjoy the chaos. This is a sharp contrast to our program -- Scott got a new deal done in 48 hours. Not to brag...

  31. Agree. I think you posted that some of our IUBB players go the women's games too. And of course everyone goes to football games now. On this note, I saw Bryant Haines had these posts over the weekend. It seems to me Scott has assembled head coaches (and the staffs they hire) with a similar mindset that has led to some mutual support and admiration. Exactly how beneficial this is I don't know, but it feels like a healthy organization in the athletic dept., and that's definitely good.

  32. Don't let the transfer rankings fool you. This is a big pick up for IUFB. He's quick and will be a complimentary one two punch with Kamara. I'm also assuming IUFB will try to sign more DLs during this transfer portal cycle.

  33. That’s certainly a take for a guy who is going to go 0-9 in the games he didn’t get to handpick

  34. 100% As for the style aspect mentioned above, it’s worth noting that Cig had some DAMN good JMU teams with QBs that leaned more toward running. Jordan McCloud was a dawg. Todd Centeio was too. The Doza/Rourke build has been good to us, but don’t think we’re married to it either.

  35. Also, don't underestimate how important this game is to IU/fans/Cig. When you're undefeated and angling for a high seed/bye, and IUFB, none of these games should be underestimated. It's not like after two seasons we're Georgia. No game or opponent should be taken lightly. Should we expect 66-0? Probably not. But there is no reason PU should be in this game by the 4th quarter.

  39. The staff did not stick with Tayven Jackson; here's why: They saw him every day in practice and decided he wasn't the guy. If we don't bring in a likely starting QB, it will be because the staff sees Alberto Mendoza every day in practice and has decided he is the guy. I cannot imagine there is anyone that doesn't completely and unequivocally trust this staff's judgement at this point. Also, for filing under FWIW; In his post-game presser after the Wisconsin game, Fernando stated that Alberto is regularly outperforming him in practice.

  43. Posting solely because of the Indiana high school connection. I think Woody may have kicked the tires on Hall at one time but I don't know if DDV has ever expressed any interest. 2026 prospect DeZhon Hall plans to return to his home state of Indiana and transfer to Crispus Attucks HS (IN), sources tell @madehoops . Wisconsin has been in heavy contact with him recently, as well as St. Bonaventure, Minnesota, and others in contact with him.

  45. Three D2 teams have beaten D1 opponents this season. Those 3 D2 teams have combined for 1 D2 tournament appearance all time (they're really, really bad). Hawaii Pacific (qualified in 2017) beat Boise State by 1. Northwood beat WMU by 4 Wilmington beat Delaware by 9. Wild stuff!
