Apparently, he put off his signing to today to allow teammate Miles Sadler to have full attention to make his announcement. If so that’s a very gracious move. Speaks highly of the kid.8 points

In today's environment you have to look at every player as a 1-year rental. Bring in a Leavitt and Alberto could decide to shop around. Just the way it is today.4 points -

Pretty nuts when the first major "name" to allegedly go portaling (Leavitt) immediately is getting penciled in as IU's next starter by non-IU people online. Right, wrong, indifferent it's just a wild perception shift.4 points -

Yes. But he was 8-23 fg, 1-5 3pt, three TOs, and he fouled out in 27 minutes. Miami lost by 14. Wasn't all sunshine.4 points -

Maybe, but the overwhelming majority of people in that locker room weren't part of that 66-0 blowout. 53 new players via the portal which is 2nd highest in the nation. Totally new coaching staff. Payback won't be on the minds of most on the Purdue sidelines even though NBC announcers will try hard to convince viewers otherwise.3 points -
Bargesser thru 4 games 17.3 points per game at 56.9 % fg, 75% ft, 3.0 assists, and 3.8 rebounds for 29.5 minutes per game. Alot of work over the summer.3 points

I obviously trust the staff, but I’d think we take advantage of this Fernando momentum (wins, Heisman chance, draft pick) and try and get another big time QB in the portal. Obviously a guy like Fernando makes a big difference! But, I’ll just watch a learn with this staff. If they like Alberto that’s cool. He shorter with less arm strength that Fernando, but he’s more athletic and has been in the system a long time. The staff really like him.2 points -

Sure is. I don’t want Medoza to ever leave. lol. He’s one of my all tie favorites. Just and awesome human being. Smart, tough, the most ideal teammate. He will be greatly missed. Coach Cig knows ball, but he has a tough decision to make next year on if Alberto can be the guy. I think the formula of finding the 6’5” guy that has the skill set and mentality out of the portal is hard to ignore especially as our ability to hand pick the guy increases.2 points -

Last year's curb stomp on those effs up north probably still has a salty taste in their locker room up there. Throw the records out the window. I expect this game to be chippy and hard nosed.2 points -
A world class example of equating leaping ability and athleticism. He can really jump, particularly off 2 feet, and he runs pretty well. But he’s not twitchy. He’s average laterally. He’s high cut and doesn’t bend his knees. Average hands. Not strong. And yet if you read about him everything will be some derivative of, “he might be the best athlete in the ‘26 class.” Nope. Not saying he’s not talented because he is, but that one is one of my pet peeves. Not the kid’s fault, just lazy evals.2 points

My good friend and high school teammate's son coaches the Butler women's team. I had lunch with him last week and he said that Butler has a new roster via the portal and if I remember correctly their best player is hurt. Unless we don't show up we should probably be ok.2 points -
They must have made one hell of a promise on NIL to get him to pull the trigger this early. But I’d much rather try to make the playoffs through the ACC than from Arkansas or some other 2nd tier SEC school.2 points

Agree. I think you posted that some of our IUBB players go the women's games too. And of course everyone goes to football games now. On this note, I saw Bryant Haines had these posts over the weekend. It seems to me Scott has assembled head coaches (and the staffs they hire) with a similar mindset that has led to some mutual support and admiration. Exactly how beneficial this is I don't know, but it feels like a healthy organization in the athletic dept., and that's definitely good.2 points

Don't let the transfer rankings fool you. This is a big pick up for IUFB. He's quick and will be a complimentary one two punch with Kamara. I'm also assuming IUFB will try to sign more DLs during this transfer portal cycle.2 points -

On the one hand, have to assume Cig will definitely want to add quality depth across the board and have guys compete. On the other hand, Alberto has been through a lot with Cig and will be going into his third year in the system. Committed at JMU, followed to IU, got his older brother to come here over Georgia and others... they've been through a lot together and I don't think that can be totally discounted. In the end I expect we take a quality QB transfer but I don't think it'll be a given that they beat out Alberto for the starting spot.1 point -

Getting super fired up for a game is pretty useless when a team just plain old isn’t nearly good enough. It’s just not possible for Purdoo. Talent development, focus, attention to detail, and scheme don’t get fixed in two weeks, even when they’re playing a rival.1 point

If we have key people out, our backups will be going against OSU’s starters and their backups will be standing on the sidelines wondering if they will see any playing time. Screw the Suckeyes and their stupid buckeye mascot. LFG! GO HOOSIERS!!!1 point

(2026) WR Lavar Keys to INDIANA
8bucks reacted to Hoosierfan2017 for a topic
With the momentum we have - a likely heisman finalist/first round pick quarterback and an 11-0 start - it’d be coaching malpractice not to try to bring in another top portal guy. Mediocre quarterback play can sink a great team. If we had stuck with Jackson this year instead of bringing in Mendoza we’d almost certainly have at least 3 losses right now.1 point -

At Minnesota will be a good litmus test for this staff. Will we take care of business against a bad team on the road, or will we be subjected to the usual excuse-making about how it's so hard to win on the road in the Big Ten, with heaping praise for Minnesota's roster full of nobodies, and how it was only a matter of time before everything came together for them? (Apologies for the rant. My IU basketball PTSD kicks in at weird moments.)1 point -

Bracketology and Team Resumes
Ryno6284 reacted to Uspshoosier for a topic
Never too early to talk bracketology. You can’t make the tourney this early in the season with your on court results but you can sure help your case by taking care of business. IU has won their first 3 games by 23 points or more with one of those teams being a power 5 team that will be competing for a tourney spot. Never a bad thing to start out your journey for a bid with a little cushion instead of playing catch up. IU is no longer bringing a knife to a gun fight with the metrics part of the equation. Glad this staff plays the game. This doesn’t guarantee anything but from my point of view following the metrics this is a breath of fresh air seeing IU enter the chat in playing the metrics game. Keep taking care of business and IUs first NET number should be a good one to start from1 point -

Won by 10 against a team that Michigan beat 121-78 the other night. The media loves them so it won't happen, but there has to be somebody else that's more deserving of the top spot right now.1 point
