If Mendoza is a legit Heisman candidate you can’t put him out there just to hand the ball off for runs. Put the ball in his hands and let him lead us to victory or defeat.

Big picture I didn’t think we were bad today. Obvious situational issues, but you have a damn good staff staring at you across the field when you line up against Iowa. I think today’s score can be an aberration just like the Illinois one was. Full faith in the staff to clean things up going forward, but when it came down to it we made the plays we needed to make on both sides of the ball. I’m over the moon to win a game like that in a place like that.

The bad news was that we had to play Iowa's brand of sicko football. The good news is that we won, so we go to 5-0 and a top 10 ranking awaits us this Monday.

14th rated Iowa State beat Iowa 16-13 and that was at home. What you saw today was how good teams look against iowa

I see growth because one was at home the other was on the road.

Of course we need to play better going forward, but it's not abnormal in CFB to have a bad day on the road. It happens to almost every team. And we won! 5-0 record. Ranked #11. At the end of the day, Mendoza had 233 yards on 23 throws.

Illinois winning and winning big will only help IU, especially if they do well the rest of the year. If USC recovers and does well the rest of the year it also helps the optics of IU. I’m rooting for Illinois on this one.

The Trojans winning does not help us in anyway.

I agree we should be sure he is ready for Oregon but losing a guy that basically shuts down at least 1/3 of the field is a pretty big deal, especially because our DB depth isn’t a strength of the team.
