    2025 IUFB Season

Quality article on Coogan picking IU. Lots to feel good about: https://x.com/michaelniziolek/status/1971576743787114897?s=46 https://www.heraldtimesonline.com/story/sports/college/iu/2025/09/26/indiana-football-pat-coogan-notre-dame-transfer-lasting-legacy-cfp-contender/86284502007/

  5. Yep, seems that way. The nice thing compared to last year is our schedule should give us a pretty decent indication early on of what we're working with. Obviously you hope to see improvement as the year goes on too. Last year in non-con, the only P5 teams we played were SCAR, who sucked, and the B4A teams where we got our doors blown off by everyone but a cruddy Providence team missing their best player if memory serves. This year we will play Marquette and Kansas State + scrimmage Baylor by the same time B4A started last year. 31 days til Baylor. 45 days til Marquette. Ready for IU basketball.

  6. Our team is either being terrible underrated or we are not going to be that good this season....at least according to the so called experts!

  8. @Pagoda there is a really good database of athletic revenue by school that you can find here https://knightnewhousedata.org/. I created a dashboard a few years back that I need to update with new data. Once I do, I’ll share with so you can see athletic revenue. I haven’t looked at the data recently, but I am certainly curious.

  10. Some thoughts for what it's worth. This is an interesting topic. Our FB revenue has not skyrocketed yet, and probably will never "skyrocket," though it has increased and should continue to increase pretty nicely and that will make a big difference. Our athletic dept is still one of the smaller ones in the the B1G/SEC, and closer to midsize if you include the B12 and ACC. I'd guess our athletic dept revenue is around #25 in the country, and a lot of the big football schools generate $50M, $100M, even $125M+ more per year than we do. As go iu bb said, the rev share is capped at $20.5M. All the P4 schools fund the $20.5M, but as you can see, it's a larger percent of athletic dept revenue for IU than the bigger football schools. That generally means bigger football schools donors don't have to fund as much of the basic athletic dept operations and they can focus more on NIL. As for basketball, a few things: - On the rev share, most P4 football schools focus 70%+ of it on football, except apparently Kentucky, who is pumping more into bball. In addition, schools without serious football programs (think the Big East) don't reach the $20.5M rev share cap, but they are able to pay some rev share (like $6M to $10M for example), and they pump most of it into basketball since they don't really have football. This has made the Big East and some other bball-only schools much more competitive in bball this year. Not good for us. - NIL is paid on top of rev share, and NIL mostly depends on what rich donors are willing to do. Having sugar daddies helps. We have a few. I'm not sure how true the rumors are of them pulling back. I'm also not sure how much the clearinghouse will limit NIL deals (my guess is very little). Bottom line is I think IUBB is #10-15 in the country in basketball roster payroll. I am quite confident that would increase if CDD shows he can coach here -- our donors would flip out with excitement. IU as an athletic dept is not big, and we don't have unlimited money for football, bball, etc. We've got to make allocation decisions. As far as I can tell, IUBB has enough to succeed, and right now in my opinion pretty much our whole bball program is riding on how good CDD is at his job. Fingers crossed we hired the right guy, from what I can tell I think there is a decent chance we did. We'll know in a few months...

  11. I would bet on Alberto being a starter next season, either here or somewhere else.

  12. I get the argument both ways. As long as a coach is consistently adherent to their plan for roster building I’m down any way they want to go. But for me I think if I’m comfortable with the kid’s work ethic and approach I’m gonna err on the side of talent every time. That means I’m gonna miss on a Walter Clayton sometimes, but if you give me a shot at a Walter Clayton or a Darryn Peterson every year I’m gonna take Peterson every time and I’m pretty confident you’d win more often than not in that deal.

Paul and about 90% of his colleagues are lazy af. Average joe's like myself saw this coming from a mile away. The laziness has got to be called out at some point. I don't care that he has 'came around' IUFB's brand. His paycheck says he should have came around last year after the Michigan game. Coach Cig said in his hiring day presser that we was going to change the brand of Indiana Hoosier football. The story writes itself and was served up on a platter December 1, 2023. Lazy. Absolutely lazy journalism.

  14. Very odd setup/format for this type of show, but it somehow works and these guys are the truth. I'd kill for something like this that's IUFB-centric. One thing I really like about them is they're homers but they also realize how big of a test this is. Navy polo brother's strategy is to hope the crowd makes it hard on our offense, because they don't have anyone in the back 7 that can slow down our skill guys lol.

  15. They chose IU as their Homecoming game? That is so 2023 and earlier.

  16. G_d damn—this is the single best college football analysis broadcast I’ve ever seen. As in, next level-PHD level scheme analysis. HIGHLY recommend if yall want to truly get into scheme details. The IU/Iowa analysis begins at about the 32 minute mark.

  22. The profit sharing is capped at a combined $20.5M per school for all sports. There is now an NIL clearinghouse which is supposed to make sure all the NIL deals are legit and somehow determine if they're at the proper market value. So a lot of schools are being cautious with NIL promises since they don't know if they'll be approved or rejected. Plus, they can no longer just give NIL money to someone for coming to play at the school which a lot of them seemed to be, it has to be a legit deal. Some of the donors at IU also seem to think that the rev share is bigger than what it is so that they don't need to donate as much.

Found Ellis Mano Band completely by accident. If you love the '70s Hammond B3 organ sound (Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Santana, etc.), you'll love these guys. Blues rock from Switzerland!

  39. One has nothing to do with the other really, but the fact Dolson hit a grand slam home run with the football hire makes me optimistic/hopeful that he's done the same with basketball this time around. Not too much longer now til we see them in action with our own eyes.

  40. Colby Giacubeno @ColbyGHoops Marquette will be in for top-60 2027 PG J’Lon Lyons, I’m told. He’s also in the process of locking in a visit to Indiana for early or mid-October. AC Kenny Johnson has been involved with the 6’3” playmaker dating back to last summer.

  41. Rabby said something concerning: "IU doesn't have big-time money right now." He says that IU is leaning more on revenue sharing and backing off of NIL. He quickly listed 6 schools (I bet you all can guess which 6) and indicated there are more who aren't doing that which will put IU at a recruiting disadvantage against them. He says IU now has a "good" amount of money to spend, not great. I guess part of the reason is concern over the clearinghouse but that is a poor excuse to intentionally put yourself at a disadvantage. NIL Go is already looking like the CF that everyone knew it would be with inconsistent approvals and rejections. It looks like they initially rejected a bunch of deals which are now being approved. Part of the reason is donors thinking rev share is larger than it is from the sound of it.
