Nothing earth shaking but FWIW Eric Bossi - One of the top point guards in the class of 2020, Andre Curbelo is down to a final five. On Monday afternoon, Curbelo cut his list to Illinois, Indiana, Miami, Oregon and St. John's. A pure playmaker with a flair for the game and the type of enthusiastic personality that rubs off on his teammates, Curbelo has steadily worked his way up in the class of 2020 and has a final list that is befitting of his ability. So, the question is what's next? After starring in the summer for the NY Jayhawks and taking some time to put his list of finalists together there was much speculation that Curbelo would wait until the spring to decide. Now, sources close to the situation are telling me that a decision should still happen this fall. With that in mind, official visits should all be locked in within the next day or two. As for who to watch out for in Curbelo's recruitment now that it is down to five, well that is anybody's guess. There's not been too much speculation just yet but now that he's got his final group, I'd expect rumors to start flying real soon.

He's been doing things on his own for a while and this is terrific news. Indiana just got better and way deeper. My man Aarman Franklin and Hunter will be a dangerous 2-3 combo in years to come. We have depth, boys and girls. LOVE seeing this news and I expect Hunter to be a regular and significant contributor.

See, this is interesting. I’d say Louisville and Kansas were the top two Adidas programs willing to play ball, but we’ve also seen that Adidas understands Indiana’s brand value and that you don’t always need the college program to be at all complicit. No worries the quote me was more of a sarcastic tone lol to add some jest into the convo lol. I should have made that more apparent that’s on me. I’m just coming from a place of people and not you obviously don’t understand why or how he was named QB1. To your point, you are correct in there’s nothing wrong with saying he’s unproven against legit teams, but to also cherry pick the one legit team he faced and was thrown in when the offense was sputtering and trying to catch rhythm is somewhat not apples to apples. Also, going off stats yeah he stunk....but also he started off bad with several incompletions and I believe several were dropped by the WRs and then he came on not passing but the game rhythm was coming to him and offense seemed to be clicking...not to mention the crowd all around me was more into the game and had more belief that we had a chance with him....then of course we all know what happened next....ballon popped. All I know is that he was about to take over had he not gotten hurt and by take over I mean starting role....that’s from people close to the program. The coaches were ready to bet it all on Penix. They were ready for him to take full reps and full games over. I get how some people are not convinced yet of his stats.....okay that’s fine, but to the people who don’t care to acknowledge the limitations of what Ramsey can and cannot do.....it’s ignorant and that’s what I’m trying to argue and I should probably stop because I guess I need to argue stats more. It’s become more apparent that it was a mixture of both playbook and ability...again this is not necessarily for you, but others as you acknowledge what he can be....just look at how many times we tested down field we can look at crap teams vs crap teams.....bsu shots down the field thrown in stride completed for a TD and dropped what should have been a TD......UConn tests deep ball with Ramsey, completed but his receiver had to completely stop his route....drive ends in a field goal....I know I’m cherry picking but to the ones who don’t understand why or how this decision was made.....so I’m sorry for taking my frustration and sarcasm out on you lol more of caught in the crossfire thing. Just for the record do I think Penix gives us the win against osu....lol no, but it’s baptism by fire like Caleb Jones had....I wish he could have played for experience, do I think he helps us against MSU given he plays, yes....we saw what MSU did against us last year......loaded the box and safeties played very shallow.....I think safeties and dbs can crowd receivers if Penix is QB. Does it help with run....that’s still TBD....however on that note I’d rather see Bedford play over love....love doesn’t have enough lower body strength to protect either QB. I expect Kansas to get probation, loss of scholarships, loss of recruiting days, and maybe a single postseason ban. I expect Self to get suspended for 12 games. LSU, Zona, and Louisville I expect more from. Taunting or being previously on probation hasn’t worked well in the past. Amateurism is the only thing the NCAA cares about. We are 9-12 months out from the penalty phase. 90 days for them to submit their response. From there the NCAA will submit their findings. Then the appeals. 3 level 1s is one hell of a strong way to come out. Plus it’s not like the NCAA has to do much. It’s all recorded in the court. Gonna be a fun couple of years. You would hope the NCAA finally grows some cajones and does the right thing but I'm not holding my breath. Kansas has been charged with lack of institutional control, three Level 1 violations in men’s basketball and there is a head coach responsibility charge against coach Bill Self, according to multiple sources. There aren't any other guys like Dawson Garcia who IU would be recruiting if they didn't go "all in" on Garcia. And, there weren't other players like Brooks who we would have been recruiting in addition to Brooks. Brooks was an in-state 5-star who seemed to be leaning our way. We had no choice but to go "all in" on him. If you don't go "all in" you are not likely to land these recruits. Sometimes you are successful, other times not. Besides, all the players we pursued in the spring after Brooks declared for Kentucky were top 100 players and worthy of offers.

Penix is starting his first full season of college football. There’s bound to be hiccups and learning curves. He also makes better reads on rpos. On that aspect of the game in the games against crappy opponents, your guys words....and criteria for judging....Ramsey has been awful in reading crashing ends and when to keep the ball....he could have had untouched runs, but gave it to the RBs where the end was crashing at....Penix in his QB keeps and reads....he made the right reads and gained positive yards. Sorry he performed better in fall camp and everyone saw the same thing. The decision was made middle of camp a week before bsu game prep week. And CTA said it the best it’s not what he can do or did but what he (and the staff) believe he can do and become. Heck my gf who doesn’t even follow IU football that close and wouldn’t know how to judge a QB notices the difference in how the ball gets to WRs and how he can read an RPO.....

The story was first reported by Evan Daniels of 247 Sports. Kessler took an official visit to Chapel Hill this weekend. A top-15 overall prospect in the 2020 class, Kessler committed to North Carolina over Duke, Auburn, Gonzaga and Cal. Keep in mind, North Carolina could still have Armando Bacot, a 5-star center in the 2019 class, Garrison Brooks, Sterling Manley and Brandon Huffman all on the roster then. Not the actress ... She played basketball at IU while I was there ... She also played on the women's golf team and in fact, I think she quit basketball to focus on golf. ... We weren't friends, but I got to know her a little because she knew some relatives of mine ... Seemed like a very nice person ... I don't think her basketball career turned out the way she wanted, but at the time, she was a pretty big recruit for IU ... RIP, Courtney -- 48 is way too damn young.

I haven't said my points are more accurate or have more standing, so I'm not sure where you're coming from there. I've already said that Penix has more potential and that he has a stronger arm. I bring up last season because that's the only reference we have for Penix against legitimate competition. He stunk. There's nothing wrong with saying that Penix is unproven against legitimate competition, which has been my main argument for about four weeks now. It's the truth.

Lol okay. Well then let’s take playmakers out of my sentence. We will replace it with wide receivers who can be playmakers if they are allowed to move after they catch.... play types let’s go with bubble screens....since I’m rewatching the games just to have points that will I guess give you the time of day to address since you can’t address anything that’s part of being a QB...timing and getting balls in windows to allow YAC which is a football term....yards after catch...which WRs can get if the ball is placed correctly and they don’t have to adjust to slower balls or underthrown balls. And it’s not every throw allows guys to make plays, because teams will have good coverage, but with Penix if a WR can get free, that much more of velocity can be the difference in a 7 yard gain into a 14-20 yard gain, which moves the ball and keeps the defense off the field. So let’s just go to screen passes because that’s a pretty easy throw, if you watch Penix throw his screen or bubble passes....his ball typically arrives on time, which allows a WR to get his shoulders up field square with the line of scrimmage so he can make a move....this also allows the blocking WR to not have to hold his block on the CB as long or this doesn’t allow the other DB or LB to get over to the flats and destroy our WR. Ramsey doesn’t have the velocity on most of his bubbles to where it allows the WRs to turn up field.....WRs have to hold their blocks longer. Im watching the ball state game currently and fast forwarding to the offensive plays......to your argument that with Penix we are going way to fast. The first drive was fast on getting the snap off, probably a start of the game tempo, get the offense going, then we settled in to what deboer typically does. We get the snap off between 10-18 secs left on the clock....I’ve only seen a few get to single digits....due to changes when the defense switches up...so the thought process that this is a Kevin Wilson up tempo Offense....not sure where you’re getting that. Part of the ball state issues with short drives were in part to not having a run offense, when we could chip away at the down and distance....our drives were sustained and weren’t quick turnarounds. Kevin Wilson’s offense typically called the snap within 10-15 seconds which was too fast for a lot of our defenses he had.....when Allen became DC I believe there was a convo to hold the ball longer and we started to see snaps around where we are at today. Deboer hasn’t really ever ran a hurry up and snap offense in his tenured yes they are west coast/pistol, no huddle, but a lot of offenses are that way...they lineup and see what the defense setups in....then there are checks of need be. I’ll try to dictate my points to being up to you’re standards for a conversation. I didn’t realize playmakers was such a deal breaker. I know I’m being petty, but that’s in part to your response or lack thereof response to valid points....not because I said them, but because this is what is looked at when determining starting QBs, by the coaches and by people who have been to practices and have watched these two QBs side by side and play after play have also seen what and why the coaches made this decision, it’s a night and day difference when it comes to arm strength and timing on throws to allow them to catch and run....this Can you as a QB give your skill players time to make people miss and or break tackles.....it’s hard to do that when DBs are able to adjust and catch up when the ball is floating in the air. Has Ramsey had some good throws yes, are They floaters and late to spots on the field yes, again nobody is saying he’s a god awful player who never should see the field ever again....no....I’m not saying that and the reasonable people who are making valid points which you are simply refusing to talk about.....they aren’t saying any of these things. So so I guess my points don’t fit your agenda. I’m all for having a conversation and can see what side you are on and the points you have laid out, I’m not saying you’re wrong or have invalid points, but mines invalid because we don’t have playmakers.....haha okay you win man......but it’s not a conversation when you refuse to listen to others points when they are just as valid as yours.

Fair enough. We all want the same thing - IU success. I do enjoy reading for sure, as you seem to be in the know more than most so I enjoy the back and forth as long as you do, hopefully I didn’t say anything to out of line as your all caps at the end would have me believe I may have. Like I said I wanted Archie from the get and I was one to drink the Cool-Aid with Crean at the beginning so I truly hope I’m not wrong again. I’m not naive enough to think that Glass has done a poor job as the facility upgrades alone are enough evidence to me that he’s got a vision for athletics moving forward and is getting IU back to a level playing field with the rest of the country. I just think in the Big10 there’s a way of conducting hirings and the Allen hiring left a bad taste in my mouth and I would love to eat my words on that. His attitude is infectious but when I look around the rest of the conference’s coaches I don’t see Allen as that enticing of an option for recruits of today, but winning goes along way with that and he very well may turn things around. Like I said I hope I’m wrong.
