Popular Post Naturalhoosier Posted March 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2015 Classless? A select few a-hole high schoolers do not speak for an entire fan base. Entitled? Most definitely. Classless? Get out of here. Hoosierboy1980, 8bucks, theriverpilot and 6 others 9 Quote
Popular Post TrueHoosier62 Posted March 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2015 Arguments like the one made in the diatribe by catsh*t, mean nothing at this point. Until Crean either gets the sack or takes a walk, he's the coach at IU. IF or when he leaves, it'll be for many reasons: The AD finally came to his senses. The trustees, never in full possession of any sense, still know what diminishing cash flow means. The Alumni, seeing that Crean's continued employment at IU is senseless, began to throttle back donations The fans, rich in common sense, pointed out that mediocrity at IU is unacceptable. None of this, by the way, denotes a classless fan base, including teenagers acting like teenagers at a high school basketball game. Classless is poisoning ancient oak trees on your closest rival's campus, like Alabama did to Auburn, or repeatedly throwing the players under the bus to cover up your own shortcomings on the court. theriverpilot Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 This article is a new level of stupid. Not saying the rumor isn't true or anything but the writer takes it 10-15 steps further just to get clicks. Just really bad reporting. Yep. He had my attention until the "classless fans" and "Kentucky NIT" part. Not saying there aren't classless fans and that Kentucky didn't play in the NIT, but his spins on it are silly. Jim IV22 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 This is from an IU fan site??? It's absolute garbage. And this guy calls us classless? Somebody buy this guy a mirror. Besides, I have it from a good source that the 3 high school kids who chanted "Tom Crean Sucks" are actually Kentucky fans. I absolutely hate that "Indiana fans" are being lumped in with High School kids at his son's game... Do they think the AH student section attended the game with signs and started the chant? It's ridiculous Indiana fans are even being mentioned...they are HIGH SCHOOL KIDS!!! There are no ties to IU's program IMO IUsafety and MikeRoberts 2 Quote
Popular Post hoosierpap Posted March 18, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 18, 2015 catfish hughes who writes for the SI fansided hoosier site put up the rumor on his blog Read it on WJS The rumor is, Tom Crean will leave Indiana for the newly vacant Alabama coaching job. Yogi Ferrell will come with him. Ferrell is a junior, has graduated, and if he transfers he can play right away. There is also talk that Troy Williams will make the move south with Coach Crean. Why would Crean give up $3 million a year? There is a few reasons. Tom Izzo We all know Alabama is a football school. Nick Saban is a god, and basketball is #2 or 3. Saban is involved in the hiring of the basketball coach, and Saban has a great relationship with Tom Izzo. Izzo, the Michigan State basketball coach, was a mentor to Crean, and Crean was an assistant under him. Crean’s Wife & Family As Coach Crean said above, his wife isn’t happy. If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Last week Crean’s son, Riley, was booed at his high school game in Bloomington with chants of “Tom Crean Sucks,” and more. Classy move Indiana. Boo the son of your coach. Indiana fans have been upset since the 2013 team was knocked out in the sweet 16 when the fans thought they should have won a title. Syracuse and Jim Boeheim beat those Hoosiers which featured a stacked roster including Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo. That same IU team won the Big Ten outright for the first time in 20 years, was ranked #1 in the country, and had a great season. Once again, classy move Indiana. Now will Crean leave for the SEC and Alabama? It seems at this point that this is what Hoosier Nation needs. These classless fans need to realize that Indiana isn’t a top destination for recruits. Crean was trying his best to rebuild this program, but these ans want it right now. Look at Kentucky, two years ago they were in the NIT. There is so many examples I could point at, but I won’t. If Crean leaves it will put the program back even more. If he leaves for a football school like Alabama, it will demoralize the program and state for a long, long time. If Crean doesn’t leave, it should be at least some sort of a wake up call to Hoosier nation that Indiana just isn’t what it use to be, and a lot of that is due to classless fans… LOL @ this whole thing. mdn82, LazOffTheBench, mamasa and 12 others 15 Quote

biteoftheapple Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 The supporters of TC, revert to name calling and flawed logic when all else fails. TC, did some good things for the program, yes. But, his fail was not leading us back to conference elite status, joining Wiscy, OSU, MSU as always in the battle for conference supremacy. It just seemed so classless. BGleas 1 Quote
Curts33 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Yogi is not leaving. Neither is Troy. If Yogi leaves, it'll be for the NBA. His mom probably wouldn't even let him leave IU. Moms overrule all. Also, I highly doubt Crean won't be the coach next year. While I would like to have Donovan or Stevens... What happens if we don't get either of them? What if we have to settle for someone we've never even heard of. Best thing for us would be to beat Wichita State and Kansas (somehow, it's possible), land Thomas Bryant, and keep Crean for now. I think we do all kind of expect too much. Tom Crean is no Bobby Knight, people (obviously). If we land Bryant, and Yogi is still here next year, we'll be in good shape. bnkepner Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I realize his name isn't on any of the mocks, but they don't list players in multiple mock draft years. For example; they aren't going to list Troy williams name in both 2015 and 2016, they predict who they think will come out. In the 2016 mock drafts I see him solidly in the first round, reasonable to infer then that he would be around a second round should he come out now. Another example, in the 2016 mock draft they have Chris McCullough of Syracuse as the fifth overall pick, but he is missing from the 2015 mock, does that mean he would go from un drafted this year to fifth next year? No. It just means they don't expect him to come out this year. I thought that's pretty obvious??? In other words if they those players were good enough to be in this years draft…they would list them in this years mock draft. Hence at the beginning of the season Troy was listed in several 2015 mock drafts but as his play started to slip he fell lower and lower on those mocks until he fell out of the 2015 mocks all together. It happens to players all the time. The example you used of McCullough, he is still listed as a pick in several 2015 mocks. They don't list these players and don't expect them come out because they aren't ready or they would list them no matter what. Quote

Let's assume all that happens, what about when those players leave and we're in the same boat we're in now? You're picking the battle over the war. Staus quo is the worst thing for Indiana basketball, Crean doing just enough to keep his job but not actually accomplishing much puts us in basketball purgatory. 8bucks, devkitt, MemphisHoosier and 6 others 9 Quote

LazOffTheBench Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I never felt Alabama was a good fit for Crean. My feeling is he's headed for DePaul or Seton Hall. They are Catholic universities that are similar to Marquette. BGleas 1 Quote
