His hands looked so so to me on the video. BUT his level of compete stood out. Seemed very fiery, and we all know I love a Dawg.   Seems like pretty much a dunker offensively.  A good screener.  This feels like a smart addition!

Totally agree on this.

Raby indicated Drew Adams deserves the credit on this recruitment.  Also he and Bossi said this does not negatively impact the Sherrill recruitment.  Bossi also said he expects news on Sherrill within 24 hours.

Adams might have been on the recruit. But this is such a Pacers-y move I have to think Carr was integral.

Jeez this is the polar opposite of last portal season.

Honestly, the only thing that gives me trepidation is that IU basketball is the king of over reacting 100 miles in the opposite direction of what just failed. This portal season is kind of going that way…lol. But I mostly like the quality of guys we’re pulling so I wasn’t going to mention it until I read your comment.

This is us finally acting like a big boy program. I’m happy to try that a season or two

That’s why we have IUFB.

We can wish-cast basketball to our heart’s content and still have Cig’s guys as our rock.

I bet Carr has had a whole lot to do with this week's success. And that's not taking away from DD and his staff, but having an NBA guy in the room who knows exactly what they're looking for and how to get eyes on you has to be a huge draw to these kids.

Did Carr get a staff to help research all the potential players out there? Recently  He seemed to lead the evaluators vs doing the evaluations and I wonder if has a crew helping.

That's a good question. I'm sure he has a crapload of connections with college coaches all across the nation from his pro job though so he's probably had a ton of coaches reach out to HIM on behalf of players.

100%. Been thinking that about Burton all along. No reason or relationship that would have resulted in them just landing on him and yet he was clearly option 1, 2 and 3. Would venture to guess they’re working a fair bit off of Pacers regional scouting data.

Yig looks pretty impressive, but I have an honest question about his recruitment. The story goes that he committed without ever having been on campus or meeting any of the coaches and/or players (save a zoom call). So, who else was courting him? Was Indiana his first/only offer? According to the portal trackers 247 had him at #31 and On3 had him at #41, so clearly it was an option for somebody.

I guess what I am curious about is what he was told about the team or the soon to be announced other players that made him want to jump at our offer. Who else is ready to commit? Is this just a random commitment or is it a harbinger of even better things to come? I want to believe, but TBH, as far as basketball goes, it just seems like we can never have anything nice. Not trying to be negative at all, just really, really curious about "the rest of the story".

Most likely? Carr had a real relationship with his agency, the fit was good, and the cost was acceptable.

Would be nice to see Sherrell commit too. I know some, many, think this helps but just hoping that is the case. They seem to be different players so he does not on the surface look like a replacement. I guess if Sherrell isn’t sold on us he will schedule a visit somewhere

According to people on X (grain of salt), other schools which have been mentioned, include: Gonzaga, Michigan State, South Carolina, Purdue, Louisville.
