Iowa is better than Illinois and USC

I'd certainly rather play Illinois or USC.  Sagarin ratings entering today had 18th USC at 82.45, 32nd Iowa at 78.36, and 33rd Illinois at 78.35.

Big picture I didn’t think we were bad today. Obvious situational issues, but you have a damn good staff staring at you across the field when you line up against Iowa. I think today’s score can be an aberration just like the Illinois one was. Full faith in the staff to clean things up going forward, but when it came down to it we made the plays we needed to make on both sides of the ball. I’m over the moon to win a game like that in a place like that.

Fair perspective. We still control our destiny if we win the games we are favored in. We will almost certainly be back in the CFP.  With an upset or two being a welcome bonus

Last time we beat Iowa was 13 years ago in 2012 at Memorial, winning 24-21. This was a much needed win, especially at Kinnick!

Agree. Though there was some stuff there that felt off, as the 1st road game of the year against a well-coached team in a very tough environment it’s easy to argue that’s the best win so far in Cig’s tenure. Certainly better than any win last year.
