I honestly can't be bothered by this small ball junk anymore. $1300 and car rides? Phbbt. Any "name" coach in the past 25 years you can think of was neck deep in worse. Popular Post JustWinBaby Posted April 11, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2025 Do we want to win basketball games or not? I swear everyone thinks that college basketball is still an amateur sport and huge dollars aren't involved in bringing talent to your program. This hire signals to me that IU is serious about winning and serious about acquiring talent. I do not care that this dude got caught breaking some recruiting rules 8 or 9 years ago. Every big time assistant has broken some recruiting rules. We seriously gotta stop acting like we're somehow above this stuff. College basketball has changed. Stop stressing about recruiting violations, I beg of you. Asha’man, DSUMMITT, skhoosier2 and 15 others 16 2 Quote

I think it's partly the visual; he looks like a big 'ol beer guzzling slick salesman type, but to be good at what he does a guy has to be really really smart, and he clearly is. And self-disciplined and willing to work hard. Goes well with being very smart. Interpersonal skills, which are clearly there, puts him a cut above. Wondering about connections...to up and comers and college preps/academies. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Popular Post Uspshoosier Posted April 11, 2025 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2025 Cooley has to be ticked lol. He hired him last year even though he couldn’t do any off campus recruiting. His show cause was up Nov 4th 2024. His first recruiting cycle without a show cause he leaves for IU BtownStrength, WayneFleekHoosier, fwgreenway and 9 others 12 Quote

I've heard IU (Dolson) doesn't give him hardly any info, and in general when any school doesn't give Goodman much info he gets petty towards them. We've seen that even with his daughter going to IU. Hoosier82 Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Kenny Johnson seems like a pretty mediocre hire from the outside. It doesn’t seem that large staff payroll really got us too far. BannerVille 1 Quote

IMO, the issue of guys like this (and Sampson, Pitino, Wade, Sean Miller, Self and their ilk) is NOT the specific rule that they broke... it's the fact that they broke the rules to gain an advantage. The fact that these clowns think the rules don't apply to themselves is the disgusting and disqualifying issue for me. Jet812, BannerVille and CSP 2 1 Quote

He can get and help major talent. I feel like some of our best examples are that 2012 team that was one of my favorites. If I remember right he was pivotal in Vonleh as well though that one didn't pan out as well as we hoped. He can get talent/recruit and a solid coach - imho that's not always a combo that goes together. ALASKA HOOSIER, thebigweave, moyemayhem and 1 other 4 Quote
