Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Enright's visit starts on Tuesday. I would expect to have at least 1 or 2 staff members officially announced and in place for his visit. RaceToTheTop, hoosierdogg, MemphisHoosier and 3 others 6 Quote
IvanRenkosillegitimatechild Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 If Drew Adams is one of the assistants then what’s everyone’s opinion if his coaching/recruiting abilities. To the naked eye I feel like it is an underwhelming hire UNLESS he is absolutely loved by the Indiana High school/AAU scene then it makes a lot more sense because CDD wants to recruit Indiana hard. I do hope Chester Frazier comes and I wonder if the Texas Tech guy that might come would be a good international recruiter. With that being said the NBA is creating this new Euroleague so I wonder if these international kids are gonna start doing that instead of the college route Quote

If Drew Adams is an assistant his team doesn’t even play until Tuesday which is sooooo dumb IMO Quote

We've missed on a ton of Indiana Elite guys alone, the last few cycles. If Adams was on the previous staff and had landed guys like Mullins, Moreno, Bidunga, etc I don't think we'd really care what else he did on the bench. I still wonder if his ability to recruit Indiana is more legend that the results indicate. There did not seem to be any kids at Cininnati from Indiana that were of note. If here were to bring Bidunga then by all means bring him but wondering why he did not bring more kids to Cininnati from Indiana. MikeRoberts 1 Quote

Crean landed a ton of Indiana Elite kids back when Adams was a lower level staffer. Got Hickman to transfer from Bradley to Cincinnati this offseason and was at Bradley because of Adams in the first place. Guys like Moreno, Bidunga, Mullins, etc choosing Kentucky, Kansas, and UConn over Cincinnati isn't an indictment on Drew Adams in my opinion. I wouldn't love the hire but also understand why you would hire him. Obviously if he isn't delivering recruits, especially from Indiana, his leash would need to be short...but recruiting at Indiana is a lot easier than recruiting at Cincinnati. 8bucks, thebigweave and cybergates 3 Quote

TadQueasy Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 One thing is for sure. No matter who DRock hires to be on his staff there will be people upset with the people on his staff or the people he did not include on his staff. woodenshoemanHoosierfan, Class of '66 Old Fart, DougWil and 3 others 6 Quote

I agree that recruiting Indiana is much easier than Cincinnati. I remember Hickman now too and that was a solid get. Even if he could not get a Bidunga to Cinci I would have expected him to have found some of the lower level Indiana talent to come. MikeRoberts 1 Quote
HoosierHuddle Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 Preston Murphy is included on a list of coaches that are getting approved by Alabama's Board of Regents/Trustees for a raise and new contract. I'd guess that means he will not be an assistant. That is a bummer. Barnett off the board after getting the head coaching job at ORU and Murphy staying at Alabama (certainly understandable). Of the speculated guys, here is who is left: -Chester Frazier (I think there could be dominoes that fall at Maryland that lead him to College Park...he's from Baltimore so that would make sense) -Achoki Moikobu at Texas Tech -Ostrom (keep seeing "he's going to Minnesota" but it hasn't been announced so...) -Rod Clark at Tennessee (both Clark and Moikobu were at Sunrise Christian, just an interesting side note) -Drew Adams (in-state connections, got two high four stars to Cincy in their incoming class including a top 40 guy, international scouting and recruiting connections) -Mitch Ballock (Creighton GA...I'd guess he would not be one of the main assistants) I'm sure there are other options that we just don't know about and we know Nick Norton is coming, assuming as one of the assistants. I'd be thrilled with Frazier, Adams, Clark and Moikobu and I could certainly understand the rationale of bringing Ostrom back to IU. Anxious to see the actual hires and then the dominoes to start falling with portal targets. Quote

On his watch, he lost McNeeley, Mullins and Moreno. We all know it wasn't his fault. Ohio State seems likely. Walsh worked his @$$ off with Sisley and deserves a ton of credit for keeping him locked in on IU. Not sure the others were necessarily on him as you pointed out. thebigweave, 8bucks and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote
HoosierHuddle Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 I'm not sure where to put this but Maryland seems to be having a bad time. They got dominated on the glass by Florida, Kevin Willard attempted to burn the place to the ground publicly and is clearly on his way to Villanova and the lead candidate for the job is...Buzz Williams? It's impossible to say "their fans" and encompass all opinions but in general, the mood of that fanbase is quite dark right now. I still think a guy like Skinn from George Mason gets the job and I bet Chester Frazier ends up an assistant on the new coach's staff, whoever it ends up being. Quote

I just don't see anyone paying the Buzz Williams buyout. He's decent but not worth the $10M cost just to hire him. Scotty R 1 Quote
