Howard won’t be back

Adam Howard may have been a fine staffer, but the primary reason he got so well thought of on this board is because he got into a pissing match with a very unpopular Mike Woodson.

The one young staffer from the prior staff that I would consider worthy of consideration for retention would be Isaac Green.

Thats would be a strong staff, but we always think that with a new coach.

What makes it a strong staff?  Murphy has good rep with Alabama but despite Drew being well regarded with AAU here he is at low major that is not killing it.  What am I missing.

Drew has connections with a lot of coaches in region. He helped with Bidunga and others.

Bidunga is at Kansas, so that didn’t help UC. Adams is not a strong hire, UC is struggling in the Big 12.

Man - I’m well aware. He can possibly bring Bidunga and others via transfer. He has connections to AAU and coaching circles in the Midwest. If you are basing his ability to get recruits off his time at Cincinnati, I can’t help you.

If he was a strong hire, he wouldn’t still be at Cincinnati. We need coaches that produce, not just that they are from Indiana or connected because of his dad. In the NIL world money talks.

I think it makes sense to have a coach with a strong Indiana AAU/HS connection so Drew makes sense. Murphy would seemingly be a good add but the remaining assistants will determine if this is a strong or just good staff (on paper).
