Next Years Team

Now that the ship has a captain, we can dust this bad boy off. My tone hasn't really changed on what I want (send everyone packing), but I won't be shocked if we keep a couple from this year's roster. Who? No idea. If you promised me that DDV could change Kanaan's mindset from a chucker to a stopper, I'd be all for keeping him. I think Rice is a good player under proper leadership, but idk if he's mean enough for DDV. Obviously would love to have Goode back, just don't see it. Tucker, Mgbako, and to a lesser extent Malik? See ya.

I am curious to see which of these guys, if any, CDD wants to keep. We saw a lot of the "collection of players" under Woodson, and very little "team"... we got a glimpse of it off and on throughout parts of the season, but as a whole, it was a collection. I wonder how any of these guys would respond to a real coach, with a real vision for his team. And to be fair, a some of these guys were playing out of their natural position, and with no scheme, I'd guess that they were left to their own devices (aka "street ball") in a lot cases...

I would say that I am fine with whatever team Coach is able to put together with parts from recruiting, the portal, IU's last group and any WVa players that he can bring with him.

Would love to keep Goode for sure. Hope he tries to retain Cupps as well. Other than that probably needs to clean house because most of these guys won't fit the new culture.

After listening to the press conference today, I don't think anyone really fits.  I said maybe Rice in the other thread as a defensive guy.  He doesn't shoot well enough for CDD, I don't think.  Same with Cupps, not a good enough shooter.  I am down on Reneau after is University of Indiana stuff -- give me a break, get the hell out of here.  Tucker seems to have those "red flags" CDD was talking about.  MM can't play defense well enough.  No clue what Carlyle can do.  Would like to see Newton healthy.  I assume Goode won't get the extra year.  Bottom line, any current players are probably backups and practice players at best.

Luckily, the new guy can probably bring a player or two with him (in addition to his kid).  Plus, he's got all his recruiting notes in order.  He has a lot of spots to fill.

Yea, he could recommit here, but would be fairly surprising if he did. Who knows what NIL Woody offered him (probably a ton) and if CDD would offer that much (probably not), if CDD even wants to recruit him (probably not).  Without some structure in place it’s hard to evaluate a Bosnian player on short notice.  We shall see.

I mean MM has some red flags too regardless of his on court laziness
