He is the right man at the right time. Actually, about three decades earlier would have been nice. “at the right time” is such an important part and you’re right with that choice of words. This feels a little to me like serious catching of lightning in a bottle. 5 years ago he was the same guy and probably the same coach and there would have been zero chance he could have done the same thing. Zero. He built a culture and a roster and a staff at JMU that he was able to then import en masse. Pre-portal he ain’t doin’ that. It would have taken years and that would have meant banging his head into decades of IUFB malaise. But this year he was able to literally flip a switch and turn on a fanbase that was begging to believe in something. And to his immense credit, he put the pieces in place to be able to access that. cthomas, Crimson and Cream, 8bucks and 4 others 7 Quote

Popular Post bigrod Posted September 29, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 29, 2024 I've been watching IU football for years and this team is just simply different than any team I can remember, even going back to the Mallory years. They are just fundamentally sound, play hard nosed defense, and a fun offense. The portal definitely helped, but you can also see the coaching in these players. Even when they were turning the ball over in the first half yesterday, this team was always in it because they didn't throw in the towel like years past. I'm having so much fun watching this team. I could see Sunseri taking on OC solo after Shanahan moves on. I can also see Kuntz moving to DC when Haines leaves. I want coordinators getting HC jobs because that means we're having success. I would love to see Scott demonstrate his commitment to the program by increasing the staff budget this offseason - make it so Shanahan, Haines, etc. have no desire to move on for lateral positions. RaceToTheTop Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Pay him NOW and up the buyout for him to be released. Quick gains in talent in the current landscape can go away very quickly when a coach leaves. MemphisHoosier and Home Jersey 2 Quote

I don't think they'll leave for lateral positions. CC has been incredibly loyal to his assistants and I think they are loyal to him in turn. But $ does talk so I could be wrong. TTT Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Post Game in the past: when IU beat a Mac team (and this century lost to Ball State 3 times)…. Was like they beat great teams and so happy to get the win. 2024: IU beats a talented big ten team (Maryland)…the coach while being positive about the 2 touchdown win noted 4 turnovers while stating…I thought we could have “cleaned their clock.” go iu bb, southsidehoosier and Dave from Dayton 2 1 Quote

If they told me we not only won, but won by 2 touchdowns I would've thought they were lying. This team has been even better than I expected. Without those turnovers I agree with CCC and think that it would've been an even larger blowout. DChoosier 1 Quote

Cig wouldn’t even really be involved anyway other than a thumbs up/down. I would present him with a raise and a new contract during the bye week so other teams know he's unavailable. Popular Post Chris007 Posted September 30, 2024 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2024 I will say as someone who has seen a lot of IUFB in my 45+ years that game Saturday was as exciting as any I've ever been at. Fans were loud. It brought me back to 87 beating Michigan and OSU. Let's keep stacking these wins. We got ourselves a team with a guy who knows how to coach them. Can't wait for NW Lebowski, ALASKA HOOSIER, hoosierbgh and 8 others 11 Quote
