Yea I think people are overthinking this. Dude is 6'11", 255 lbs. Great shot blocker. It's cool that he has the ability to step out occasionally. But he still took two thirds of his shots around the rim, and that was while playing for the most three-point happy coach in the country.

That's just modern analytical offense; 3's and/or quick dunks/layups. No mid-range. Mara and Morez Johnson both took 75% of their shots at the rim last year but their 2 big system worked because Johnson could guard out to the perimeter defensively. Sherrell is a pick and pop/dive to the rim in the half court and a trail shooter on the break. Sherrell could absolutely be a 4 offensively if the other big is athletic enough to switch out on the perimeter defensively. Probably a tall ask for somebody like Reibe, bit would definitely work if paired with someone like Fru or Machot.

Besides; he's not very good. Would be a good P5 backup at best. Good post defender but slow as shite and can't score inside or out. Think a slightly better Michael Durr.

Michael "Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"

Pretty insane that Trent will be the only returner from year 1. Not sure what to make of that.

We had a bunch of seniors and then guys who weren't likely to be ones that could get it done here.

Acamovic in the portal.

The idea of getting bad euros to redshirt is just a comically dumb strategy, if for nothing else they can always sit in Europe play very little and try and develop on somebody elses dime. They have no family or ties here to keep them loyal even if you do develop them.

I’m not sure what was going on there, but I’m glad Carr was brought in to straighten a few things out. Already our strategy seems improved.

That the team stunk and talent evaluation was bad.

We got what we could get. We mightve had the least experienced, least capable recruiting staff in p5 basketball while we built the majority of the roster.

So 26-27 is year one. We have a pretty respectable group in theory. I think Kenny just pulled in our first 2. Let's see if the big money assistants/gm can get on the board. A bit concerned about DD as a closer of high level talent. We shall see.

Izzo has visits with the Turkish big and Anton Bonke. A pair of 7'+ guys. Maybe that's what he sees going with Sherrell or he's tapped out and we're getting him.

Yeah, but the entire roster? Nobody other than Trent developed enough over their year here to be worth retaining? Clearly the staff feels strongly the last roster was a swing and miss. Dolson said as much publicly. The scout was that off or that's really the best that could be had?

Looks like we are taking a different approach to roster building this time around, so ultimately doesn't really matter. Clearly talent was an issue last year so it's a good thing we are building a brand new team. Seems as though next year's offense will be less reliant on living and dying by the 3. That's a good thing. Glad we got some P5 level talent committed today.

I think there are other guys they may have kept but they decided playing time or money wasn't here (like Dorn).

Maybe I was too critical of DeVries last year. Sure, the team stunk and failed to meet “Indiana” expectations; however, I keep thinking back to how he did somehow win 9 games with the second hardest schedule in B1G play. I’m beginning to give him the benefit of the doubt…

I definitely think we can expect a much improved year 2
