I'm pretty sure that everyone here is aware that great roster additions or recruiting gains are not a guarantee of on-court success, but for IU fans to be pleased that we have opportunities to build successful rosters? That is a cause for optimism. Not so sure about that. With the amount of sunshine being pumped, need SPF 100 for protection. I am done with "optimism." Optimism gets you 0. I am seeking results. Granted, Woodson did better than predicted in the portal with 3 top 25 guys. That's Mount Rushmore territory. But let's see where it goes on the court before we start steaking thru the quad. tkbbn and AZ Hoosier 2 Quote

We are all seeking results, but you can't win games in the offseason. So, what results are you expecting currently? Most who are "optimistic" are simply enjoying the roster overhaul. Of course there are a few extreme pumpers and extreme dumpers on both ends of the spectrum. I have seen a large majority excited about the additions, but guarded about what it means for next year (me included). Not sure what else you are looking for at this point. Not sure that sunshine being pumped is a thing that I'm reading. Yes ... people are really happy about the additions of Ballo, Tucker, Rice, Carlyle, and likely Goode. That's not sunshine pumping; that's acknowledging that those are good additions. I guess for me the ultimate "sunshine pumping" is when someone says that given these additions, their expectations now are (and I quote) "No more than 3 Bigten losses." Anyone that thinks that given these player additions we should be at a minimum 17-3 in a P5 conference is way overly-optimistic for me. Being honest, Woodson's approach hasn't been great the past 3 years IMO. He pissed me off last year. I think the burner on Twitter isn't helping the case by spiking the ball on the 50 yard line either. So I am still very much wait and see. All that being said, just looking at the roster in a vacuum, I am pleased with what we got. If they figure out how to start really incorporating the HS recruits into this, then ok, we are good on roster construction (even though I don't think this was some master plan, but sometimes it is better to be lucky and just stumble into things...) Hopefully the play on the court finally matches the personnel. Golfman25, tkbbn and Juwan Moye 3 Quote

I think there's a difference between what should be expected and what is expected. The talent on this roster certainly merits high expectations on its own. However, there are other factors that can and do lower the expectations for some. Quote

I was "attacked" for a "winning the offseason" banner comment. A joke if you will. That's all I am commenting on -- tempering the optimism. It's great we have new guys, new roster, etc. etc. But my fear is the new boss is the same as the old boss. I have been on here saying -- show me, first. That's all. Some of you all are insane. Just to be mediocre? Those are my expectations every year -- I expect to be the best. Not the dumpster fire we have been. Mike Woodson himself said "compete for championships." Well, we're waiting.
