I’m stating the obvious but tourney game after game after game proves the need for a three level dawg guard. For the 10th or so year in a row that’s something we desperately need.

Yep. If you are going to break the bank it’s here

I heard the same about Rice last year and if you just take out the games at the end where he was tired…

Whatever the excuse is he hasn’t made a ton of shots in 3 years with career 43/37/67 splits.

He shot 43% from 3 with 3 attempts a game his last year at Drake, what do you mean "he hasn't made a ton of shots"?? The form looks good and he's proven he can do it an entire season. If he was hurt last season I'd say that's a valid excuse for a dip in the numbers. The kid's a Hoosier, let's give him and the new coaching staff a shot here instead of tearing them down due to a previous coaching staff/players disappointments.

We're talking about his shooting.

he shoots 1.5 FTs a game. You're making up something to cling to.

His SO year at Drake Game 1 through 1/4 of 2025 when he was injured... 47 games worth of data.. (you clearly didn't look up the games he played this season vs P5 competition before his injury)... anyways... 47 games..

eFG% 56.5  3pt FG% 42.9  A/T 2:1+

Your argument is he isn't a good shooter, Rice like even, because of his shooting % on 1.5FTs and his post injury numbers is a pretty terrible argument.

You promise to own this when his shooting stats are suboptimal next year.  To me, I fully think he’s the backup.  If he’s playing 10-12 hard, tough minutes I can live with that.  If he plays with the effectiveness hulls played his freshman year, yet gets 20+ minutes a game then that’s the day I start the fire DDC thread.

I got more faith in this coach to figure things out on the fly.  I’ll wait to see what other guards we get.  Enright won’t be launching too many shots anyway.  So it’ll come down to his ballhandling and defense.  Which I’m also not high on.  It’ll be fun to see where this goes.

We’ll find out next year. I heard it all this time last year about Rice and Carlyle from you guys. We’ll see if you’re right this go around. If he shoots 40% from 3 and 80% from FT line, we all win.

That’s a lot of emotion…which you’re entitled to.

I haven’t “tore anyone down.”  Just discussing basketball.

I placed bets with some of the burners this year on predictions I knew wouldn’t come true. They didn’t pay them off in the end believe it or not.
I want Enright to be great.  I don’t expect him to start or get Starters minutes. Him becoming an 80% FT shooter would be a stat I’d be willing to bet on.

Anyway, my thought is we will have 3 to 4 other shooters on the floor with DDV so if our pg is our worst shooter on the team, then other guys get more shots. It can work.  The FT shooting bothers me because the guards on most of these winning teams just don’t seem to miss free throws. Leal, Galloways scarred me shooting in the 60s for the past 2 or more seasons.

This thread is 458 pages of a whine fest and I pop in with "let's give this staff a chance" and it's a lot of emotion?

Wow. If you want to just discuss basketball, why did you ignore the first half of my post that was discussing basketball and only quote the second half?

You can’t use rice and Carlyle in your examples when 1. They didn’t care and 2. Woodson was there coach who did zero to put them in a spot to succeed/develop them. Also DeVries has already proven he knows how to get Enright to be at his best.
