But you can’t do that and create a winning team. If you have a team full of shooters and add a Perkins. Maybe. But that’s what Iowa was, and they were never very good either.

When your 2G can’t shoot, that 2G needs to play 1 or your 1,3,4 need to be shooters. Need 3 shooters on the floor if you want spacing for your 2 bigs.

Reneau

MM

Galloway

Perkins

high level 1/2 guard who can shoot lights out is a lineup I can live with.

That’s 3 ball handlers and a stretch 4 who can space the floor. Galloway and Perkins can guard the perimeter and rebound well for their position. Bring in Hickman off the bench who can spell Galloway and add a defensive 5 (I like Ousmane from Xavier) and that isn’t a bad rotation at all.

Sure is. He’s been right about everything so far, no? He’s connected to the staff somehow.

Twitter speculation that it’s Ya or Hulls. I’d lean toward Hulls given the age of the account. Can’t remember if they’d post during games.

I would be floored if someone from the actual staff was posting on an anonymous message board. Then again it may be par for the course with this bunch, but I highly, highly doubt Jordan Hulls is wasting his time with us common folk.

I doubt they’re on the actual staff but think there’s a very high probability they’re affiliated with someone who is on the staff.

Whoever it is has a major crush on @Chris007 from the number of times he/she tweets about him.

Where can I find what he/she is posting? Twitter? What’s the user name? Sorry if it’s already been posted and I missed it.

Just catching up but believe this is who they are referring too. Tagging/AddingHoosierfanyuh since he asked too.

Find someone similar. Oh wait, we had McNeely who was probably as close to a Sandfort Comp as you can get and lost him. Wishing Hickman is anything like either of those 2 isn’t sound logic or scouting. Our staff hasn’t proven to be good at scouting so it all adds up. (Sparks, X, Durr, Ledlum…….).

Now when they realize we need to prioritize shooting we go after Perkins when we already have Gallo? 2 guards who can’t shoot.

FWIW Identified these rosters issues last off-season too when apparently our staff was too googily eyed to see them themselves that lead to this mess we are in now.

I'm not on the Perkins train nor was I happy about the McNeely decommit.

BUT Hickman doesn't have to be as good as either Sandfort (who, again, isn't in the portal) or McNeely to be valuable.  He can flat out shoot the ball.  And there is plenty of evidence about shooting being one of the most translatable skills from mid major to P5.

When I look at the four MVC transfers into the Big Ten this past year, I see four guys that all were starters, immediate contributors and didn't drop much (if at all) from their MVC numbers.

Lance Jones, Riencz Mast, Marcus Domask, and Ben Krikke all went from MVC schools and were solid players and double figure scorers at their new schools.  Domask was first team all Big Ten, Mast was third team and Jones was honorable mention.

Zero chance that poster was anyone on the staff and very unlikely he/she is related to a staff member unless said staff member did not tell them anything of substance.

NGW was never in the know and did miss on plenty. This person is obsessed with social media

Ngw just loudly reminded people when he was right and conveniently made excuses or ignored when he was wrong.  You didn't see Chris Ledlum on the court and you certainly didn't hear anything about McNeeley decommiting.  He was also very high on 'Queen to IU'.

What's great is that y'all know he's reading this as a guest and wants like hell to post about 'the lies I'm telling' which are only lies in his own mind.

I could get onboard with that, but don't believe Mike Woodson will. Potential drawback is Reneau fouling out before the second media time-out of the first half.

As opposed to this year when playing the 4? Dude had 4+ fouls in something like 9 out of the last 10 games. Perhaps guarding quicker, more agile players that play out to the perimeter isn’t his game?

I can confirm that poster was neither Jordan Hulls nor anyone on staff. I won’t say anything else - because frankly I don’t know much else - but I just don’t want that to gain any traction if anyone was thinking it lol.

The closest people we’ve ever had to the program posting here to our knowledge are players’ parents, who chose to be known. Yogi’s mom (who was/is a SAINT), Troy Williams’ mom immediately come to mind.

So you are saying Ngw is Jordan Hulls’ mom.

Come next Monday/Tuesday, there will be 4 teams left. To my mind, that means the majority of the portal will be fairly set by the middle to end of next week, with a few more late entries. With so many open spots, I just want to see some momentum soon... real momentum, not just a "nice back up." A roster upgrade in the backcourt is needed, to put it mildly (we need two starting guards IMO but not sure we'll get them). As for Perkins and Thornton... I'd definitely take it. Need as much shooting as we can get though. Don't know if fans have ever needed good news more desperately.

I think the next 7-10 days are going to be telling at least for the guards. Several high level guys entered the portal this week that we desperately need to overhaul the offense. So far the biggest commits have been to teams still playing. Gonzaga and Alabama. I would really like to land Mack from Harvard.

Reneau seems like an easy punching bag because of some head scratching things he does, but he does finish.  178 of 290 inside the paint is a solid D1 percentage (61%).  Average is at 50%, so regardless of him 'forcing shots up with 3 people surrounding him', he's making shots.

People seem to want everything from a player.....you want him to not only score but be more of a rim protector, a rebounder, a rim runner, and a passer.  EVERYBODY wants the guy you are talking about. Give me three of the guys you are talking about and I'll win a national championship.

TJD was exactly that player.

I will give you that, Reneau is a decent finisher at the rim, but he needs to get a whole lot better at recognition.
