First, Purdue is going to have at least two players enter the portal before they can even bring one in.   I am guessing Furst enters but that doesn't help them long term much because he's their only senior anyway.

Dang hard to believe Furst will be a senior and hasn’t really been a huge contributor. Painter would be wise to recruit over Smith.

I'd take First as a backup. Starting him would entirely depend on Reneau stepping out and shooting more.

Furst is a 9th/10th guy on a good team, at best. 

Can't shoot, not all that big, not that athletic.

He played 18 minutes per game his sophomore year and was sixth in minutes his sophomore year at Purdue on a team that won the Big Ten.  Can't really label guys as 'ninth or tenth guys' -- depends on how they fit with the team's roster.  I agree there are better fits than IU if IU is looking for one stretch big and one defensive big, but Furst will land on his feet somewhere.  Been rumored that he will be looking at going to Notre Dame.  Of course, he'd have to first announce he's in the portal.

I am ready to get some of these visits in motion so we can start seeing a potential full roster.  To me it seems like we are in a very good spot for both Rice and Conwell based on what has been said.

just reading between the lines - Rice has no other visits lined up(been in the portal for awhile now), we are his first visit(reminds me of Ware and how his situation played out), rabby continuously talking/tweeting about Rice since he entered the portal.  Similar for Conwell, rabby and lots of IU accounts with connections saying IU was one of the first if not the first official team to speak with conwell the moment he entered, from Indy and parents like IU.  We have Conwells attention from what I have read

Sounds really really good to me. I hope this is exactly what we are presented with. Would be hard not to be optimistic about that upgrade.

Not saying that Walker, Perkins, or Carlyle wouldn't be good gets too; they would.

Just saying that Rice and Conwell, paired with Gallo, would be pretty optimum. Can I add Hickman as a swingman/catch and shoot guy? That's an A+ portal haul.

Rice, Conwell and Hickman would be a home run, and at least signal possible structural changes to the offense. Still interested to see who gets added as a big. I will be interested to see if Rice takes a look at his hometown school since USCe has had quite the resurgence, I live here but you do not hear much about NIL as it relates to basketball for the gamecocks.
