WVU did not have a significant rim protector last year did they?  If not, does anyone know if that became an Achilles heel issue last year or did they manage it through team D.

They did not. But they also had 2-3 high level wing defenders including Sencire Harris who is one of the best on-ball defenders in the country.

They absolutely did, Eduardo Andre was 23rd in the country in block rate.

He played in every game, started 9, 1.4 bpg in 17.1 minutes.

6’11,” 240. I think there’s probably a spot for a similar player, unless they think Alexis is that.

You are right that ball pressure is probably more important to the overall defense here, though, if Harris and Bailey are spending most of the time at the 5.

You don’t need to be 7’ to be a rim protector. It’s a mindset, being a dog! Best example, look at @WayneFleekHoosier avatar! Moye was what? 6’4”! It can be done but it takes the right guys. I believe DDV is getting those guys and we will all be pleasantly surprised next fall!

what we don't have isn't the story.... what we DO have .... is pretty good

They are paying to broadcast Duke, UK, Indiana and not Individual players. Players have come and gone but the the thing that stays the same is the name on the front of the jersey

Outside of a very limited number of superstars that is the same with all team sports including pros.

As an example TV is  paying to broadcast Chicago Bears games because of the Jersey and the fact they are in the NFL. (no different than IU and the NCAA).  Put the Bears in USFL league/jerseys and very, very little revenue would be generated.

You’re not suggesting that AJ Moye was a “rim protector” are you? Maybe I’m reading that wrong…lol.

So I think that shows that DD knows it is important but the 17.1 minutes a game also indicates it may not be a requirement with his defense.

My hope is that Conerway proves effective as an on-ball defender which immediately elevates our defense if he is. While I agree that having a rim protector would be ideal I’d be fine with Bailey as the 5 because then we’d be set up to just outscore teams. Basically what Alabama did the prior year before they decided to try Omoruyi this season. Just sub out Grant Nelson for Bailey.

I was listening to The Back Home Network with Tony Adragna, and he pointed out that during the games this season, IU fans would probably be yelling to get the ball into the post.  He said we are so conditioned to that style, we can't help ourselves.  He laughed and talked about how we are changing the way we play, and believes the fans are still stuck in our thinking about the old style and things are going to change this year.  I hope so.

Rabjohns says the roster is pretty much set as far as the portal is concerned. The last 2 spots will probably go to Goode and a developmental guy or 2 developmental guys if Goode can't get another year.

Saw that, can’t convince me we don’t get another big somehow
