If Goode is part of the team, the coaching staff needs to be clear that he can’t be commenting on social media. No responding to Dakich. That needs to be a directive for the whole team.

I’m too old to really care about that. Reflexively I agree with you. Then I ask myself, “what the hell do I know about social media?”

I would be fine if Indiana just embargoed everything and anything involving Dakich.

Lmao who are you to tell someone to tell what someone does with their personal online account

I wouldn’t be the one establishing the rule would I? If you’re getting paid by the University, you can’t be getting in public measuring contests

Players can tweet whatever they want, but I’d prefer to leave the Mike Woodson “woe is us, it’s the fans fault” mentality in the rearview mirror, and Goode was a part of that. We don’t need him with the guys DD has brought in.

I agree - with the caveat that I’m all for players, coaches… anybody really… putting Dakich in his place after he calls them out. Hopefully DDV gets them tuning out that noise or using it as motivation instead of self pity.

I will agree with this

I think these are young kids who are still impressionable to a large degree.  Luke is a player who would really benefit from a fresh start with a coach who emphasizes accountability etc…

I think a kid like him could flourish in the right system with the right mentors.

I'd like to have someone on the staff, whether it's the head coach or someone else, that's well-versed in social media and can get these guys to understand how to pick their battles. I'd rather not have guys tweeting and arguing with fans after losses. TJD and Race did that a lot.

I see all this worry about our size on the frontline.  Villanova 2018 says hello.  They crushed everyone through the tournament with not one person over 6'9 I believe.

I’m sorry but comparison that is really funny sh!te.

That Villanova team had 7 (SEVEN), yes 7, did I mention SEVEN,  guys that were drafted by the NBA.

Eh, bygones. That was a young man doubling down on his team at the time. Yes, he's an adult. But barely, and they're all fairly malleable at that age because they still don't know jack about people and the real world. He played his butt off down the stretch regardless. He may have said things people didn't like but he didn't stop competing. He won't continue the Woodson mentality, especially under DeVries. And if he were really the type, I'm confident coach would spot that from a mile away and would have already told him 'thanks but no thanks'. His value as a glue guy veteran for this pot luck roster far outweighs anything he partook in during Mike Woodson's Massacre.

Just refer them to Kevin Durant's social media presence and remind them that's what soft and distracted looks like off the court.

Best way to put Dakich in his place? Don’t respond. He’s a click bait troll. Goode fell for it. That should tell you why they should stay off social media. It’s full of troll accounts and click baiters. Dakich got what he wanted so he could do the “told ya”. The football team was an example of how you handle social media.

I expect CDD’s teams to have few, if any, issues with social media.  His previous teams didn’t have problems from what I can tell.  CDD would reprogram Goode and fix whatever Luke picked up from Woody.

CDD’s program culture should lead to players being focused such that they naturally tune out all the noise — from hostile road crowds to trolls on social media.  It should be very refreshing to see.
