JFC.  Will someone call DeVries and tell him to make some news.  Guys are going crazy, literally insane.  Talking about Woodson and Hurely on a player thread.  :)

Hey; he did sign another assistant this morning!

The Denver smoke around Hurley is entirely agent driven and in no way gonna happen. Malone is a jersey guy from Seton Hall prep. No way he’s going to join an org that axed a guy who won a championship not so long ago. He’s a CBB guy through and through IMO. It would have to be a northeast NBA franchise for him to seriously entertain the move IMO.

Can’t imagine you’re not right. Everything about that guy screams college lifer. But just as a matter of due diligence, if someone calls and says, “hey, we’ve got the best player in the world and our city is objectively awesome to live in, let’s talk”, you probably grant them the courtesy.

These two things are what make the rumor somewhat interesting. I think Jersey is right but I think Hurley could wait a hundred years and not find a better fit than coaching Jokic. Not just that he’s the best player in his prime but the way that he plays and how perfectly it could mesh with a ton of stuff Hurley likes to do on offense.

If you’re Hurley and you have any NBA itch that ever needs scratching, he’s going to be hard pressed to find a better situation. I think that fact at least bumps the possibility up from 1% to the 10% range.

The thing is, I don’t think his wife would find living in Denver objectively awesome. If that weren’t a factor I’d think it had much more potential to happen. He’s said he wants to coach in the NBA. Also said he doesn’t want to coach much into his 60s. Don’t pretend to be inside his head but being aware of the whole Hurley family legacy and how Danny’s struggles with mental health have been affected by that… I could see him either wanting to be the only Hurley to win an NBA title. See if he can succeed at the highest level. On the other hand, I think he’d miss the development factor with younger players. I have a much easier time seeing him spending the next 10 years in Storrs trying to win big and cement himself as their best coach ever - greater than Calhoun and one of the best to ever do it. That to me fits the Hurley picture much more than taking a stab at the NBA for money or perceived prestige. He’s already got plenty of both. Don’t see why he’d go through the trouble of making the move right now. My two cents.

Can Gignetti's approach work for IU basketball?  Would you rather have a non P5 player that started and produced or a former highly ranked kid that got limited minutes at a P5 school?

Probably producers over bench sitters. Wasn't most of Florida's roster non- P5 transfers?

I agree with the NE thing.... but if not the NE, Denver, Spurs would be at the top of the next list, IMO.

It's not like this is 2005 Denver, though. He gets the best player in the world.

Denver is nestled right up against the beautiful Rockies. Incredible place to live, much better than NE imo

Used to be incredible. Now it's approaching third world status.

As is inner-city Colorado Springs. A lot of cleanup has occurred over the last year. Overdevelopment is hurting the natural beauty of Denver area. 30 minutes in any direction and it’s just you & hiking trails, lakes, mountains, open spaces. Less concrete, more nature is my prescription. I’ve lived in a half-dozen states but have never enjoyed a place as much as Colorado. Hope Hurley likes nature walks!
