Yep.  I don't think Samet was a move to pressure Sherrell.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is Samet was specifically part of the pitch to Sherrell.  I wouldn't be surprised if Sherrell spoke with Samet.  If you're assembling a team you want them all on board and part of the process from the start.

I think it’s far more likely it was the plan all along and fans have been scarred by IUBB the last 25 years and misinterpreted a quote from Rabjohns about budget size. I think Ryan Carr’s immediate past made him uniquely qualified to get massive amounts of donation if there was assurances that the same pitfalls that were made last year were not repeated. I also think it was a clear strategy to target players with multiple years of eligibility left as an effort to not fully rebuild the roster via the portal every single year, especially as the high school recruiting is still getting back up to speed post Woodson

Granted I’ve watched 90 seconds of highlights…but Rancik looks skilled enough to play some 3. Got a great handle for his size and skilled passer. 

All of Yigi, Sherrell, and Rancik could get 30 minutes. 

Gut tells me it’s an either/or with Sherrell/Rancik though.

You certainly could understand the Simon family having a certain amount of trust in Carr.
