I have made it clear that I hate Turdue and with every win he lets me know it and when they reached the FF4, he was an all out butt!

Popular Post ziggyiu Posted April 7, 2024 Popular Post Posted April 7, 2024 It's interesting to hear so many comments about IU's terrible shooting. It's true. IU's shooting was very, very bad and the offense as a whole was horrific. It just seems like the atrocious defense gets lost sometimes. I read comments like MM's defense became ok toward the end of the season, for example; but it's not qualified by noting his defense was ok on a team that was terrible on defense. We can pay for better players, but if the schemes are the same it won't matter as much. Fire Mike Woodson. thebigweave, BannerVille, IH8PU and 6 others 9

Since IU’s last title, UConn has gone to 12 elite eights, 7 final fours, and won 5 titles. Could be 6 after Monday. At a certain point, for me as a long-time fan, you have to start asking yourself about the definition of insanity and why you want to continue insanely rooting for the team where the people in charge are fat, dumb, and happy enough to continue with the current mediocrity, as long as people are filling Assembly Hall. If you are part of the "team" in charge of this s**tshow, in my opinion, it is a total dereliction of duty to roll with a coach who obviously has no plan at all. Think about it, the vast majority of his recruiting success has been 11th hour recruits that have more or less fallen in his lap. Now he plans to fill half the roster with portal players who are looking for a payday. Listen to successful college coaches talk about how to build a program: Recruit good players who are going to stick around for a while, develop and coach them up so that other talented players want to come to your program, and then use the portal to fill in specific needs. Does that sound at all familiar if you're an IU fan? No, not at all. For me, the more I see how successful programs are run, the less I want to put any resources into witnessing what my once beloved program has turned into. Unfortunately, I don't see the powers that be doing anything until the apathy translates into lack of attendance/$$. We have a coach who has a style that is so unappealing, we have to try to (over)pay portal players for one or two years. For some reason, no good players want to play in a style where the coach doesn't think his job is to get them shots. Wild! If anyone thinks Woodson has any desire to change, you are obviously not paying attention. I would have much more ability to stomach his mediocrity if he had any kind of awareness at all. After spending last summer talking about how he wanted to win now and hang another banner, he had what anyone listening would assume to be a disappointing season, by his own standards. But instead of coming out and saying the season didn't go as planned and he had to be better, he chose to double down and let everyone know that he is doing a great job and there is nothing wrong with what he is doing. He did after all, supposedly develop one player. Since no change has been made, one would assume he has the full support of the athletic department and administration. Or, our administration is compromised, broken, incompetent, inadequate, or possibly a combination of all of these. Either way, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Well, I think I'm done expecting different results from this once proud program. As long as the status quo is the status quo, I don't think I'll be a part of the next 1000 pages of this thread. Geometry Hoosier, BannerVille, kottke and 7 others 8 2
Stuhoo Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Interesting that no one was anywhere near this upset until Purdue started kicking the whole nation @$$ this year. Is it Indiana’s meh season, or is it Zach Edey, the two-time national player of the year causing our rival to catch lightning in a bottle? J34 1

Nah…I have been for a while (at least since the Crean era) but definitely this season, for sure. I suspect it is just Purdue’s, and to a lesser extent Uconns, success that makes people reflective again. You can only beat that dead horse so much, but seeing Purdue advance is like possibly seeing a glint in that pathetic horse’s eye…better bring back out the whooping stick. I think people are just fed up and have been apathetic for a while. Maybe the difference this time is Purdue playing for a title while the administration does nothing. Michigan wins a football title, OSU responds in a massive way. IU admin seems non-responsive. Fans wonder what they're supporting anymore and why... People are jaded because their expectations are not where they want them to be and hope is, by and large, in the gutter. OKHOOSIER, thebigweave and IH8PU 3

If you value recent success, Uconn is the greatest college basketball program. Even if you view everything historically equal (ie a title in 1901 is as relevant as one in 2021) they push IU out of any claim to a top 5 historical program and join some combination of UCLA, UK, UNC , Duke and maybe KU. Here’s what I find as sad…like it literally makes me sad (just “sports sad” not like one’s dog died real life sad) to reflect on: At the end of Knight’s prime—somewhere from ‘87 to ‘93–Indiana had a claim as the greatest basketball program. At 5 titles we tied UK and we’re only second to UCLA with Woodens run. But both UK and UCLA were in disarray and hadn’t won titles in a decade-plus. IU was the ascendant “IT” program seated as the state university in the craziest basketball state. We were essentially what Uconn is today but probably even more historically relevant at the time. The end of that era is what I grew up on and of course many older guys here lived it as fans. Since then UK repassed us. UCLA despite all its problems re-added to their legacy. UNC and Duke passed us by. In most people’s eyes UConn and KU too. To anyone younger programs like Villanova, MSU, Lville and others are more relevant. So on and so forth. IU literally went from the top of the college basketball universe to a literal after thought in 3 decades. It’s actually quite amazing. Anyways…in the spirit of IU stupidity and mediocrity, we’re running it back next year with a coach on the hot seat who everyone knows has no practical chance to add to IU’s legacy. I couldn’t think of anything more fitting. Deserthoozier, Hoosier DaDa, Home Jersey and 6 others 8 1

They've also done so without Duke and Kentucky levels of OAD talent. They've certainly had talent but it's more like top 50 or top 100 type talent that tends to stick around longer. It's mostly just been good coaching with one hot run with the previous HOF coach's players (similar to Mike Davis except winning the last game).
