I don’t see Malik and Mack staying. Ware is declaring for the draft. Malik and Mack can make the same amount of money at a better program for a better coach.

You can keep believing it is about filling holes but that is not true.

Name the schools that brought in 5+ players in a single year from the transfer portal, and now have multiple transfer portal starters, that are killing it. This shouldn’t take long since there are lots and lots of examples.

I don’t follow mock draft stuff closely until the end and, yea Ware is gone— projected around #20 in the first round on multiple boards. MM is not getting drafted, so he can almost assuredly make more money at IU or some other high major. I will go ahead and assume best case scenario: MR, MM, TG, are the returning starters. Not including Cupps because he shouldn’t be starting at IU. So we need a starting level rim protector, 2 starter level guards, wing depth and some bench pieces. Free agency is gonna be wild this year. At least we will have something to talk about lmao

Depends. Ultimate doomsday scenario is Malik and MM return, we get a few decent guys in the portal, win 20 games on the nose and squeak into the dance as a double digit seed before getting blasted in the opening weekend.  Woody believes he's flipped it, insists on a 5th year, and Quinn gives it to him while coaches like May and Schertz are now long gone.  It's almost guaranteed to happen imo.

Pay him with your huge NIL war chest theyvare bragging up. He will be better off. Make big money and another year in the weight room. Have a great season next year and go in the lottery. That would be my strategy if I were him.

Also, I can see how 5+ transfers could work when you have multiple players following a coach to a new location. That is not the situation we are in.

I know nobody wants to believe this but easy to research on 24/7 Portal site. You can look at any team, who has transferred in and out. You can then select each year. Majority (not all) of the top 15 the last 2 years are bringing in 4/5 guys yearly. 

Dude I literally did that and it in no way supports your narrative. Two teams brought in 5 this season and are good. Kansas and UNC. That’s it. The only real examples of March success with same year huge transfer portal hauls are KSU (new coach) and TT (new coach). And they are all STILL RECRUITING HIGH SCHOOL KIDS. Repeating “there are lots of examples” over and over doesn’t make it true.

I wish i could find the picture that listed the teams relying on multiple transfers to be good. They were also relying on a run in conference tourney to make the big dance.

Just looking at this week’s AP Top 25. Kansas and UNC had 5 transfers in and Alabama 4.

Isn't part of the problem that the decision isn't Dolson's alone? If he couldn't convince the other powers that be that a change must happen before an anonymous source within the department announced CWM's return, why think he can do it now? 

I just have no faith this combination of administration, donors and university executives will get this right.

In betting, the saying goes "The trend is your friend." For the last 25 years the trend with IU basketball decision-makers has been failure. They need to drastically brake that trend for me to have hope again.
