Does he have the drive to get back into college coaching? Is he prepared to recruit not just locally but nationally 8-9 months out of the year? Does he want to babysit 18-22 year old college students? I think these are all legitimate concerns and a big reason why he transitioned out of college and out of coaching altogether. I don't want Stevens here unless he's 110% committed, rather than simply fulfilling some childhood dream. I think recruiting outside of your school is like down to 1-2 months. As Urban Meyer said the other day recruiting these days is basically asking a recruit or his agent what his number is, then meeting it or saying no thanks. Juwan Moye Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 I mean, there is active discussion in this thread about if they go the interim route or not so it doesn’t seem like anything is actually “settled”.

Our top 4--- Brad, Beard, Pearl, and Dusty-- Brad is, in my eyes, clearly the best candidate-- proven the most, still young, less baggage, etc. I don't really think it's close. Dusty would be #2 for me, on that list. These seem like made-up concerns. thebigweave and Napleshoosier 2
OKHOOSIER Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 While I will probably stay in the skeptic column when it comes to Brad actually coming here, what does that timeline look like? The Celts are likely not going to be done playing basketball until June. Would he leave before the season was over? I would lean towards we should wait as long as he wants if he commits but do we really want to be without a coach for two+ months?
HoosierInParadise Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 If it's someone like Stevens that is not necessarily needing to wait until the end of his season to leave his current job...just hire him now and have him start coaching at next Wednesday's game against NW. This would not only stop any and all boycotting at the next home game....it would be a wild and crazy sell out!Sent from my SM-S928U using BtownBanners mobile app Hoosier DaDa and Napleshoosier 1 1

Deserthoozier Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 27 minutes ago, Motley's said: He'd be great, but he's never leaving Baylor "Everything we do around the program is Christ-centered," he told CBN News. "The great thing is we can prepare champions for life. And that's a spiritual, academic, and character formation in athletics. So for us to be able to incorporate the spiritual part has been so key and paramount to all our success and He's blessed us." Drew told RFI that seeing players accept Christ is "more exciting" than winning any game. "Seeing the spiritual growth guys. Players who accept Christ, players who maybe prayed for the first time with the team, players who get baptized, players who come back and get Bible studies and go to church and you know that's what really exciting," he expressed. "Sometimes those victories are not written and talked about in the newspapers or TV, but again, those are the ones that really matter," he added. When asked about the importance of religious freedom in America, Drew said he is glad to be at a Christian university where he can openly share his faith. "Baylor University gives you that opportunity. Spiritually we're allowed to have an impact in our players' lives, so many of my coaching friends [that] are devout in their faith are at institutions where they can't," he explained. "I am a much better husband, father, spiritually I have grown from the staff that we have because we will do coach's bible studies together and we start every meeting in prayer." Drew adds that it is the culture of "joy, Jesus, others, and yourself" that will continue to propel the program forward. "We have also been a Christ-centered program and that is our foundation," he said. https://cbn.com/news/us/joy-jesus-others-yourself-baylor-university-mens-basketball-coach-opens-about-his-faith So I guess Baylor was just a couple of spoonfuls short of the religious fervor during the basketball team murder scandal in the early 2000’s. Good thing Drew brought the XL ladle to force the kool aid down everyone’s gullet! ! Plus he tried to blackmail a player by threatening to report their immigration status to stop them from committing to IU during the Crean era. I’m sure it was so he could “save” them. No thanks!
