They might be, personally, I just think there are better options with less baggage.  We tried hiring someone who doesn't follow the rules with Sampson and it didn't work out, why do it again with Beard when you don't have too.

Fwiw that's how I feel too.  I really don't need each article about our new coach hire including a section on DV allegations.  Maybe it's unfair to Beard, but the fact of the matter is that will happen.  I don't want anyone else picking the coach except Scott, but this is something Pam and the BoT should have some input on, they are responsible for considering reputation/headline risk for the university.

I've heard there are more issues with Beard beyond the public DV ones.  There are many good coaches out there, we just don't need to take on all these issues he brings.

I'm not even sure that Bruce is on the list any longer. He's allowed to do whatever he wants at Auburn and his son might take over for him one day.

Outside of Brad who I doubt we can get, Beard is really the only sure thing.  Dusty may very well work out but I’d also bet if hired there’s a 50/50 chance we’re doing another coaching search in 4-5 years.

I'm skeptical that the 'high-profile list' is possible, but Stevens or May would be great.

However, while they fit the bill of fantastic, proven, high-level coaches, a great choice is also possible without winning the introductory press conference. Because ultimately, I'm interested in a program that consistently wins at a high level through hard work and pristinely excellent attitude.

So a lower-profile but potentially outstanding list could also be: Micah, Bucky, Alan, maybe Ben.

Tbh I don't know why he would leave.  Top-5 team, pretty darn good NIL, they have a nice thing going with the fans there, and he's got a lot of autonomy like you said.  I don't think he's a fit.  I'd prefer a younger guy like McCollum, but I don't know, I've got to trust Scott to figure it out in the interviews.

I think Micah might be out. He would be a tough sell to a hungry fanbase

To see how our search is gonna go, just look at Kentucky's search last year. We're gonna go after Drew, Stevens, Pearl. When they all inevitably say no we're gonna settle for Ben Mccollum. I still think that scenario works out for us, but I just see something like that happening.
