Yet some fans think this game could alter the trajectory of the season, lol. Maybe make them feel better for a few days, best case. That team is not a measuring stick for IU basketball. In any way. 

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when the one guy said it could alter the trajectory. The king has a pretty easy schedule until January 11th is when the harder games start. Until then he could win every day and it still won't mean much imo. Do they realize his one won against an ok team providence was against a team without their best player?

I think you guys are misinterpreting those posts. They're saying a loss could send the team into a spiral it doesn't recover from (like last year's early January loss at Nebraska), and it would make it nearly impossible to get any enjoyment out of the remaining December games. A win would be more of a relief than cause for celebration, similar to each game we've played since Thanksgiving. 

The remaining December games are against cupcakes. Not sure how much enjoyment one gets out of those anyway. They say interest is down. Well one reason is the joke of a preseason schedule Woodson made. Michigan State is playing north carolina, Kansas, etc. Woodson lines up his best talent yet and plays his weakest preseason schedule yet.

True but getting two more wins vs cupcakes isn't saving him. All comes down to conference and post season. Sure would be nice to have somebody who could get fall recruits. I just saw sampson has 3 top 20 guys locked up.

I have zero confidence that MW and can put a solid game plan together that will help prepare this team to win on the road consistently and I think he will get out-coached tomorrow and we lose by double digits!  He is by far the laziest and worst coach in the B10.

Someday IU basketball will be relevant again, but it won't happen with Woodson on the bench.  We are in the midst of another wasted season of 40 years wandering in the desert.

With this current Administration, it may be another 40 years before IU is relevant.

I think that was very true of the McRobbie/Glass era. With Whitten/Dolson, I think the internal political environment is set up well this year to make the right move.

Especially with Quinn’s term nearing the end. Whitten was still new-ish last year I believe. Dolson has way more clout after Cig. As a fan who loathes the current product on the floor, I have no choice but to have hope in that possibility. The alternative is extremely grim.

Brown had clear interest in Indiana.  He went on an official visit to Bloomington in September.  And he told The Daily Hoosier over the summer he would be watching IU this season to see how their guards were utilized.

Not good when all these high school players take a hard look at Woody’s program and pass.  I don’t blame them.

I have a suspicion most of our portal gets were mostly because we paid way more than anyone else would.

Also, you are being recruited by Louisville and Indiana, and you see they play on a neutral court during Thanksgiving.  You don't think that played a big part in him trending toward Louisville?  Woodson has gots to go!

The current administration that hired Cignetti after spending $20M to fire Allen and, when it became clear he was a winner, gave him a big raise to keep while also increasing the assistant coaching salary pool to almost that of OSU and making a commitment to NIL? That administration? Yeah, they obviously don't care about the money sports.

There is really no reason to pay attention to, or put much stock in HS recruiting until he is gone. The system is bad, the tape is ugly, he is bordering lame duck status, and MW is notorious for being an uninvolved recruiter. What we have seen will be how it is--maybe one long term recruiting win and then a spring add when a kid has reasons things change in their recruitment and/or NIL demands. 

HS recruiting is usually one of my favorite things to follow but there really is not any point until he is gone so I have mostly stopped. It is what it is at this point. No point in getting worked into a lather over it, HS recruiting has been middling to terrible his entire tenure. We had a recruiting class of zero people in March lol--which made us the only P4 team without one. 

To me, the lack of success with HS recruiting is one of the largest red flags about the state of the program internally. The HH podcast I take with a grain of salt, but my guess is they probably have receipts for a lot of what they said, which is why they were comfortable airing the laundry. The HS recruiting makes me believe more of it than I maybe would normally when it comes to a weird spurned wanna be media type. The bright side, is this is all easily fixed with the right hire in the NIL era. We would be in REALLY dire straights without it, and ultimately it bought MW another year. Sans NIL/transfer portal the next coach and IU would be staring at a Crean level rebuild due to the lack of players we have gotten. We just gotta ride this out, and look forward to the next guy.
