First, you guys are hilarious. Reading the pages I missed on a long travel day is great.

I guess I missed the chance to drop the bomb that coaches were informed yesterday that Woody is being retired. Better to come from established sources so those on this board who question inside info so diligently wouldn’t have to post responses. Should be an announcement officially tomorrow. Told it was supposed to happen today, but Woody is being difficult about ending the season - and some of that has to do with getting the most out of his contract. This all follows several weeks of work by Dolson, and his witnessing a fight in the locker room that had to be broken up, with an assistant coach yelling at Woody “this is why they’re firing you!”

Want to watch the women’s game now, so will save some additional nuggets for later. But Dolson is retaining a search firm just to check the box, but we’re getting our guy. Numbers have been discussed. I’d expect that to be announced after the season right before the tourney starts. I’ll add more later. Sorry my travel didn’t spring this last night before it hit the media but had some family things going on.

Things are about to turn around for IU and our fans in a big big way. Alright, go Lady Hoosiers!

LOL.  Just admit you are wrong.  Kelvin Sampson was "resigned" he didn't "resign".  That is just a euphemism for quit with some benefits or get fired.  Which is exactly what is happening to Woodson.  IU is laying him off.

Besides that, you said "Never" and you didn't qualify your "never".  So again, "never".  Pssh.

You missed the back and forth I had with that clown last week where I clarified all that. No IU coach has ever been removed from the sideline in the middle of the season due to poor performance.

@str8ballerfell for that crap after the Illinois game

I just think as fans we need to watch how we react to this situation the rest of the season. If it is announced he is not coming next season I think it would be best to stop booing and bashing the team

Like it or not our fan base reputation is that we are lunatics and I somewhat agree with that assessment.  I am sure nobody will agree with this but future candidates will watch how Woodson is treated if he coaches out the season. I think it will effect the quality of candidates that will be interested in the job if we don't stop ripping him. I know the can response that we don't want a coach if they can't handle it but guys like May or Stevens could be those guys who might say no thank you.

Yea…wouldn’t have expected that since about a decade ago. Maybe nil is really bleak over there.

It is. My closest friend was a player on their first team that put them on the map (1999). He is still close to the program, and there was a lot of concern that they couldn’t hang in the new NIL space. I think they had well under a million dollars for their entire roster this year. Not a good time to be a small religious school in the middle of nowhere Spokane.

I don't like the phrase "contemplating retirement". I'm still somewhat concerned.  The pessimist in me is afraid that this is being floated in an effort to lower the hostility level of the fans that attend the game Saturday and going forward.  I'm scared Woodson has no intention of stepping down.  I think Woodson thinks he can save his job with a hot streak at the end of the year.

The optimist in me is hoping for a press conference tomorrow.  That the delay is so Woodson's wife and daughters could be flown in to be by his side.  At this press conference, Woodson announces he is retiring at the end of the year which frees up IU to openly pursue candidates that may have been uncomfortable talking about a job that wasn't officially open.

Assembly Hall is going to be ugly, and everyone involved is going to deserve it for this farce. I don’t like the Dusty chants, but I’ve reached apathy on that. It’s gonna rain Dusty chants, and so f****** be it.
Saturday's headline. " A defiant king refuses to back down as a chorus of boos overtake assembly hall"

Yes from a contractual standpoint you are correct.  From a public perception we canned his a$$ and everyone  knows it.

Obviously.

But had Woodson been “fired” as in terminated, he would be cleaning out his office as we speak. IU will not and has never done that in the middle of the season.

Resigning and Terminating (fired) from a contractual standpoint have vastly different meanings.
Not that it matters or is even worth the back and forth but when someone is being fired from their job, which is the term everyone on here has been using, they are being "let go" or "relieved of their duties". Regardless of how that is accomplished, if is coming from pressure or forcing from the employers side, and is not solely the employee's decision, then they are being fired.Screenshot_20250206_190251_DuckDuckGo.jpeg
