That’s the reporters’ way of getting the news out before they are scooped by another reporter, but still allowing Indiana to make the official announcement and thereby not burn bridges with the athletic department.

This is how it’s handled by professional reporters dealing with a professional athletic department. It has nothing to do with what Mike Woodson would prefer.
