If it's not Stevens, everyone else will be busy coaching with games left in the season. Can you imagine if that leaked? It would look terrible both for IU and the guy agreeing to a job while coaching in-season at another school.

We've been through plenty of coaching changes and have seen at plenty of other schools to know how it goes. They're not going to say, "Woodson is retiring at the end of the year at which point X will take over as IU's Head Coach of the future."

Even speculation about the IU job being open at the end of the year will likely result in questions for several coaches, especially May.

To be fair, I don't think they would announce it that way even if they had a deal done unless it were to be a hire from within.

I heard on a podcast they lost their Adidas deal because of it or like 6 million or something to the effect. It was essentially the trade for Harper coming there.
