Debbie Downer enters the chat.

Not to bring the room down, but the math to 10 wins and the tournament bubble still works (regardless of the crap play we saw last night).  The Penn State win allows us to lose IL.  So we are now even.  Have to will all remaining home games.   However, Ohio state, Northwestern and Washington all look beatable on the road as well -- so there is still room for some trade offs.  It is what it is.

Now back to -- Fire Mike Woodson.   :)

I'm not even sure that Bruce is on the list any longer. He's allowed to do whatever he wants at Auburn and his son might take over for him one day.

I don’t believe he’s ever been on anyone’s list, including Dolson’s. He’s a nice guy and I know he’s reached out to IU previously, but several things would need to change if he were to be considered if / when we have an opening at the end of the season.

What would need to change?  Our administration?

Pearl is too old now btw.  Beard would be a grand slam.  I fully expect the administration to roll the dice on someone unproven once again.  They never learn.

Probably got answered, but allegedly choked his significant other. There’s also a pile of internet rumors about his drinking habits in Lubbock and Austin. While I don’t subscribe to assigning guilt arbitrarily, in my experience (work closely with state and federal police), this type of stuff does not happen in a vacuum. If DV has progressed to police interaction, it most likely has gone much further. He is HARD NO from me.

Now, non-violent financial/recruiting/paying players types of violations? My morality stops lol and could not care less.

Gotcha!  I think he’s a good coach but if that did actually happen, then NO for many of us.  I am still in the you are innocent until proven guilty but there must have been a reason the police got involved

I kinda understand why IU won’t fire him mid-season but I also love the fact that the power brokers have to sit there and watch fans boo and social media make fun of what has become a laughingstock of a program. All because of piss poor decisions they made. Every boo and fire Woodson chant is a direct reflection on them.

I will say I'm pleasantly surprised to hear of the conversations that have and are taking place last night and this morning in the athletic department.

I think you and others are going to continue to be disappointed if you believe we’re moving on Woodson before the season concludes. Not sure what conversations you’ve heard about since we lost to Illinois, but these aren’t people and this isn’t a culture prone to knee jerk decisions and actions. I know there are some restless people who are talking about “where do we go from here” (this is a direct quote), but it’s not a January action item.

Not going to happen.

- They're not going to get to 10 wins.

- Even if they  do, I think the losses have been so bad they still don't make the tournament.

- Even if that happens, Woodson has lost the support of fans. It was known last year that he was losing fans. Now they're chanting for him to be fired. He's greatly underperformed with a $6M NIL budget.

I just don't see any way he's back next year, barring some miracle run, both in the regular season and into the tournament. Even then, they'd have to think long and hard about bringing him back. This won't happen though because it appears that most in the program have thrown in the towel and given up on the season, from the HC down. There just doesn't seem to be any effort.

My mom always taught me to clean up any mess I made.

In that vein, I have the perfect candidate to take over should we make a midseason move (though my guess is we won't).

He's an IU grad, former IU player and has has coaching experience.

Let ol' Quinn get in the trenches and take some heat for the mess he has wrought!!!

Fwiw his buyout is set and negotiated in his contract — he gets his whole remaining contract paid out $1M/yr.  Remaining contract is about $8.4M at the end of this season.

That said, they could agree to a smaller amount paid out sooner.  Regardless, IU knows what they owe Woody.

While what you say is absolutely true, it's also true that everything is negotiable... how badly does Woodson want to salvage his reputation? Of course, we're also dealing with his massive ego... but, again, everything is negotiable.

I'm sorry but maybe you are getting left out of the conversations but there is no if/when. It's when. Everyone involved knows that. Barring a miracle final four run it's over. We probably won't even make the tournament unless there is a miracle

Oh, I think it will be nearly impossible for Woodson to remain as coach once the season ends, but those conversations aren’t as recent as last evening or this morning. Just wanted to be sure you understood the time frame, which is extremely unlikely to change. Glad to clarify and update this for you.

Recent history leaves clues as to how this will proceed, including the why, how and when, as well as the who.

The bball program led by your guys Quinn and Woody continues to be impressive!

To be clear they said last night's performance was embarrassing. Nothing about Iowa or any of the other losses. It was only embarrassing for these guys when the fans booed

The product that Woodson has put out has been an embarrassment... the body of work is seriously lacking in results and everyone associated with the teams/games/seasons/tenure needs to feel that shame. Period.

It’s going to get ugly.  Extremely ugly and the administration will have no one to blame but itself when it does . We have a massive fan base that obviously includes some crazies who are fed up with being **** on by this administration for decades.  He needs to announce his retirement now.

I was one of the biggest “we need to hire a name” posters. Now, though, idk. Coach Cignetti wasn’t a name. The Louisville and UK coaches weren’t names. Dusty May was sorta a name but was making a big leap in competition. With the way NIL favors a school like IU, the biggest thing we need is a grinder who breathes, eats, and lives college basketball 365 days a year.

The person you describe IS Dusty May. Dolson needs to get him locked up today.

The fact that someone thinks firing Woodson now is a knee jerk reaction to one loss shows just how badly our program is being run.

I understand the emotions here, but they’re not going to sway how this gets done, and that’s true even if some people are having “discussions” last night and this morning.
