If Mike Woodson’s fate is decided by a 4 point win at home versus an unranked Wisconsin team, then he was never in danger to begin with.

I tend to believe that if we lost out including losing the first game in the tournament a change would have been made.

It is silly to think it needed to be losing out.  If they lose the rest of the games they will still finish the season 2-8 over their last 10 games.  1 win does not make a difference.

Here’s a controversial take:

It was completely excellent to see Assembly Hall rocking and joyful, players celebrating , and with a scoreboard final that showed Indiana as the winner.

That’s just so level headed.

If you want Mike Woodson back next year, sure. If you want him fired this was the worst outcome. Wanting IU to win these games and wanting Mike Woodson fired are irreconcilable positions.

What is the difference between going 1-8 and 0-9 to end the year? Is winning 15 games instead of 14 the threshold to stay employed? Winning this game doesn’t change the fact that a mass exodus is still coming, we have one recruit coming in next year, and key 2025 recruits are still hanging in the balance.

I would hope that the administration would have a bigger picture in mind when deciding Woodson’s fate. 15-16 vs 14-17 vs 16-15… better not be part of any decision making process.

This one game shouldn't move the needle one way or the other. Win the next one and then it moves. One or 3 losses didn't move it before so one win doesn't now. He can still save himself but he better hope he didn't just completely lose his top scorer. Malik's foul was dumb but Woody's reaction didn't sit well with MR.

I don’t think we are done winning but I do think we had to get one.

Correct.

And if that is the stance Dolson takes, he was never really serious about making a move any way.

I know where you stand.  I want to win as many games as possible.  Really happy for the players and staff tonight.

That is admirable that you think that.  But it is not an objective view of the remaining games left on the schedule.

I wouldn’t use the adjective “completely.”
