The NCAA are a bunch of limp ****s (sorry for the language). I don't care about a show cause penalty from way back in the day. Its a way different power dynamic. The UNC AD all but told the NCAA to f themselves over a transfer WR being ruled ineligible, then lo and behold, he became eligible. It's a new age in college basketball. 

I care if Bruce Pearl does something like bring in criminals, is a domestic abuser... if he bends some NCAA rules that are rarely enforced, I will live with that risk personally, weight that against what we have seen him deliver as a product on the court.

If May actually has an IU out clause in his FAU contract, he could probably get it added to a contract at a P5 school too.

Of course, timing is always the mystery... it's certainly ripe for a change this offseason though.

I'm skeptical IU would actually get Pearl. If they did, I believe the "bridge" guy would be his son. I've read his son is next in line at Auburn as it stands. He's an assistant coach there now currently I believe.

That was our attitude toward Sampson.  We should learn from our mistakes.

Could be a perfect time to leave Auburn (while they're on top) and allow his son to get his feet wet. A 6 to 8 year window of Pearl leading IU, only to hand it off to Dusty May who by that time has hopefully had multiple years of experience coaching P5 basketball seems like a transition everyone could get on board with.

Sampson - no morals

Crean - no defense

Archie - no offense

Woodson - no clue how to run a college basketball program

We should have told the NCAA to F off multiple times in the past. I would have taken Self and all his "cheating" in a freaking heartbeat over the past 20 years. Promise.

I'd be ok with Pearl or May and it's been mentioned, but how about Shrewsberry at ND? His bio speaks for itself and definitely knows Indiana and Midwest. Is his buyout at ND probably too high since they just hired him?

He made a late run and lost in the first round in year one. He finished second in conference and made it to the second round in year two. Then the wheels completely fell off in year three when he had more control over the roster and playing time. He was let go.

Just having a discussion.  I'm all for giving people second chances.  Knight brought in Norm Ellenberger as an assistant coach.  Ellenberger had violations at New Mexico when he was the head coach there.  Pearl is an excellent coach and has the personality that IU needs.  IU can't miss on our next coach.  I personally am wary of someone that has skirted rules in the past.
