Fire Coach Woodson + Assessment of Former Posters

There is zero reason for Woodson to get his 4th year if there is a verbal agreement with another coach. Zero. The cons of his 4th year absolutely outweigh any positives. If this is the state of IUBB for next year, I will not make a point to watch the games after the inevitable three game stretch where the same issues from the past three years appear. He is who he is, and he’s not getting the job done. Supporting the program with my time and energy with CMW at the helm is pointless to me. Mediocrity gets old. 

If he is back we will get to watch Sisley and Mullins pick other schools. Woodson will go after 15 five star players and strike out next fall. Rinse and repeat and the results will be the same.

 The Big 12 seems more stable but I don’t know what the NIL future for basketball is at Baylor.  
 

If IU is really taking about spending ~$8mil/yr for a coach, I’d assume any package comes with some beefed up NIL commitments for the new coach.  
 

At that level of spending I’d take runs at both Drew and Bennett way before Pearl. Timing might be right for one of them.  
 

Andy if you fancy yourself a top AD, you’d better be a closer. 

Throwing big money at Bennett would be an absolute waste. It doesn't matter what NIL money you have, you won't be able to spend on any talent because he won't recruit it and kids don't want to play in games of 45-40. Scott Drew? More likely. He plays a more modern style. We as fans would be screaming at the TV because of Bennett, just like we did with Archie and do now with Woody. Pathetic offenses.

Exactly. The first sign of the team not performing and the attendance drop off will be substantial. I would not be surprised if not even one sell-out occurs during the entire season. People are over mediocrity and with no clear path for the future, what’s the point in giving up their most precious resources?

I get what you’re saying but I would rather not have Indiana basketball become the laughing stock of the B1G. Even with Crean’s first few years, the team competed hard. CMW’s don’t - consistently - and that’s what makes it even more infuriating. ‘What team shows up today’ is why they’re mediocre.

Exactly. There was never any reason to hire him in the first place but here we are. 

If he had a top 5 recruiting class on the way, I would understand giving him time but he doesn't. Even if he did, and if I'm Dolson, Woody would still need to come into my office after this pathetic year and knock my balls off with excitment for the future to keep his job. 

The fact that it may already be a certainty that he's getting another year is as nauseating as it is stupid. Get some cajones like the OSU admin and cut your losses. Time to move on.

We're pretty close to there now being 10th today but could end up being 13th after a couple more games. It's sad really

 We take every word as gospel from people that probably don't really know that much. Why take Trilly word as being correct. These people know our fan base and are playing us as fools and want click baits.

I don't hold out much hope we would ever get pearl. We probably could we just choose not too. I could see Dusty May but certainly no big names as after Sampson iu much prefers the flavor of the month or nba guys with no college experience.

This part of your post is just simply false. When you have a very old coach having a bad season there is always a significant chance of not coming back.

I haven't read through all this thread recently so I'm not sure where the rumors are coming from.  I'm being told there could be a small shakeup with the coaching staff, but Woodson isn't going anywhere after this season unless he decides to step down which would be a surprise.  His plan was always 4-5 years and then retirement and his buyout makes it unlikely he is removed as coach after this season.

Maybe he sees the writing on the wall and decides to step down early but he is pretty oblivious to just how much people want him out at this time.

I still say he’ll be back as our coach but my confidence isn’t quite that high.  The buyout, Quinn Buckner and Woodson being an IU alum are major factors that can’t be ignored.  I don’t want him back and I would like to move on from him, but I still think he will be back
