Tomorrow would be a good day to eat lunch at Buffalouies if you would like to meet Coach Cigs and next years starting QB

Would he be of the same last name as these bassists?

Coach Cig has won everywhere and although he has plenty of P5 experience, all his time as a HC has come at lower levels.

Right now, we have a mostly JMU staff and I guess, will have JMU's QB.

I'm curious if I'm the only person who has this concern, but I'll raise it anyway. We need to compete at a B1G level, not a Sun Belt level. Granted, we haven't been terribly competitive in P5 in the past three years -- but I just hope Dorothy (er, Coach Cig) realizes he's not in Kansas anymore.

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have wanted to play JMU this past season.

I don't know if I'd call it a concern for myself yet, but it's been on my mind. The staff doesn't bother me at all, but I'll be curious to see what the roster looks like after spring ball. A LOT of JMU commits and transfers are in the crosshairs and that type of roster won't get it done week in and week out in the B1G. I'm still optimistic and will give it 5-6 months before my curiosity becomes worry though.

No doubt -- they'd probably have beaten us by 10 or more points. But there's a difference in being able to beat the B1G's worst team and competing week in and week out in our conference.

Part of why I wanted some of the players that entered the portal to stay, they have B1G experience at least.

We have to improve day by day.  James Madison was a better team with better players and coaches than we were this year, regardless of level.  Getting most of their coaches and a few of their players is an excellent start with our improvement.

Not being dismissive - I totally get what you're saying. I guess I'm saying that we currently aren't at the level to consistently beat the worst of the B1G, so lets start there and work our way up.

Yeah…there’s been some similar “discussion” regarding this very subject over on HSN.  One poster was a bit more direct and dismissive of CC’s approach to building the roster so far…and letting some recruits go.

I'm not sure if they do or not but McCulley could be successful really anywhere with his size and athleticism. He tightens up his route running and he's going in first 3 rounds.

Sort of my point that I did a poor job of making.  Michigan has to be looking for a stud WR because they ain't got one.

Not worried one bit. I'm guessing IUFB loses 30% maybe more of its 2023 roster and gains 30% maybe more of other players from other schools. If 10% of the incoming are from JMU that is a good start for the 90% to learn what is expected and how things work from the day to day. The 10% will help change the way the 70% still at IUFB think.

One could reasonably argue that under CTA, Indiana was not competing at the B1G level, and arguably not even at the Sun Belt level. Let’s see what CCC brings to the table before rushing to judgement.

I really don't know how it can get much worse. CCC needs to get guys he can work with and who embrace what he is trying to do. Until we know what the team looks like, we have no idea how successful we might be. I'm convinced we have upgraded the coaching staff. That's the absolute first step to being a successful program.

Definitely fine with his staff. Also fine with some players from JMU as well. Can't be all SBC players that he brings in though. And my biggest concern is McCloud being our starter next year. Really thought we could do better. Hopefully it will work out and I'll eat crow.

As I stated, we haven't been competitive in the B1G over the past three seasons -- so I'm well aware we were not playing at a very high level

And I'm not rushing to judgment. Just mentioned that it was a concern.

I assume it will be easier to implement his offense rather then teach someone who has been in it. Would give Jackson a year to learn it

I am convinced just by his background that we definitely hired a guy who knows how to implement and run a college football program. That's enough for me to be legitimately optimistic. CTA had never really led a college football program until he was promoted. That inexperience was obvious. It's ironic that IU fans are critical of the new coach doing what most coaches would do if hired. You have to reevaluate everything when a team has won three conference games in three years. He wants to expedite the turnaround quicker than not, so it probably makes more sense to reset/reload with new guys than try to force square pegs into a round hole. And some of these guys that left or "decommitted" were probably gone no matter the coach, including CTA. That's to be expected  when your best season in three years is 4-8.

It took us 4 ot two heat a 1 win Akron team so we weren't competitive in the conference
