I’m guessing it’ll be Kurtis Rourke from Ohio. He had visits scheduled to IU and Wake Forest. Wake Forest just took a QB from the portal today.

That would seem to be a really good get right?

From article describing top portal QBs available

https://theathletic.com/5104498/2023/12/01/college-football-transfer-portal-quarterbacks-tracker-best-available/?amp=1

Kurtis Rourke, Ohio: The 2022 MAC Player of the Year recovered from an ankle injury late last season to make it back in time to start this year for the Bobcats. MAC coaches told The Athletic they felt like the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Canadian was better as a junior last year before the injury but still see him as a mid-level Power 5 starter. Over the past two seasons, Rourke threw 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His competition percentage this year did drop to 64 percent from 69 percent last year.

“He’s very good,” said one MAC head coach. “He’s just an elite decision-maker. Someone will get a proven winner and a leader.”

Pretty much a tall pocket passer, so Cig’s RPO offense will need to be adjusted
From what I've gathered the RPO is not "his" offense. He'll tailor the offense to his players (QB). Also RPO's were a part of their offense last year but not as much as you might think. Read option running game absolutely was their style which would likely need to look completely different with Rourke

Fairly pedestrian stat line. Roughly 2000 career yards, 4.5yds/carry. Doesn’t appear to be used much in the passing game. But he’s played a fair anoint of football in a major conference. So welcome aboard.

IU is basically losing their entire RB room, so they are going to have to get a few RBs.

Coach Cig is going to have a lot to prove. Probably will be a lot of what looks like lateral moves.

Doing more with equal is going to need to be a real thing. You’d like to eventually see a roster talent improvement with 5x or more Nil involvement.

^^Love that line^^

For Indiana football, that’s exactly what a coach needs to do.

I wouldn't be surprised to see two more RB's added b/w Portal, HS, etc.  Ellison is a fine piece, but if you are CCC you need more to your RB room than Holloman and incoming FR Khobie Martin.

IU currently will have 5 scholarship RB’s for next year.
Justice Ellison (Sr+)
Josh Henderson (Sr+)
David Holloman (Sr/Jr)
Khobie Martin (Fr)
Justus Savage (Fr)

Ooooh good catch on Savage - I spaced him the deluge of decommits.  I was tracking Henderson had exhausted his eligibility - 3 years at UNC and 2 years at IU, looks like he only played in 2 games in 2019 and 2 games in 2021 so curious if he will petition for a 6th year.

He’s in the mix for next year. So he must’ve gotten one at some point.

As soon as Ellison entered the portal CCC was following him. It was a day or two before he was announced coach. Guessing this is a player he really liked. So I guess I'm glad he got someone he really wanted.
