IUBB vs. U of Indy (exhib) Sun., Oct. 29, 1:00, BTN+

Recommended Posts

Just finished watching the replay.  Offensive struggle the first half but played well in the second half. Thought ball movement looked good in the second half.

Postivies:  Gunn contributed well and Walker looked better than I thought he would.  Decent athleticism.

Negatives:  Galloway played very poorly but I'm not worried about him.  Do wonder how Ware will play against bulkier big men.  Free throw shooting.

This guy really is committed to the shtick huh
I think Trish is a good dude and good poster/fan. I also think he only seems to want to voice his opinion when it happens to be pooping on the IU program. Many people here use this board to vent and he is a pretty good sport about being pegged as a downer.

And…only 1.5 more games of these “announcers”

They weren't very good, but they are still learning their craft. That's why they are students. I'd take them over some of these so called professionals we here most of the season.

Walker, a fifth year new addition, was also the first guy up off the bench cheering when a teammate made a good play, and had his arm around Ware talking to him going into the halftime locker room.

In the post game presser he looked truly glad that Woody let them have it at halftime, and made a special point of giving props to Cupps.

He clearly is, as advertised, a fantastic culture addition.

It’s always nice to have senior leadership on the bench - that second unit is where most teams lack leadership and seems like he will do that for us

I listened to the game on the radio (next best thing to watching) and just watched the highlights. I liked what I saw of Sparks and Walker a lot. I can definitely see the potential of our frontcourt as those guys figure out how to play together. Cupps gives us a college ready alternative at point guard. I love how he moves the ball. No more pounding the at the top of the key.  His defense was better than I expected. Going against XJ in practice is paying dividends. I can see this group being very dangerous in March.

They referred to Mbako as “The Duke Decommit” at one point. It wasn’t an exposition on his background either, it was just a casual description of him like “the duke decommit grabs the rebound and dribbles out”….lol.

I watch half the games without sound, that’s how much I hate most regular announcers, but I wouldn’t take the ones today over anyone.

Part of me thinks it’s nice they give the students a chance, but another part of me thinks it is kind of low-rent and unbecoming of a major program the way they produce the games and then engineer it so that they suck another $10 subscription out of the fans and outsource the work to unpaid interns. I’d prefer they just make the whole thing student oriented and let the kids film, announce, and produce the whole thing and just throw it up on iuhoosiers.com.

Hey in fairness, Gus Johnson referred to Tamar Bates as “the former Texas signee” in January last season.

Wasn’t able to watch but just watched the extended highlights on YouTube. Malik looked really bad to me for the most part. Am I missing anything? Mgbako looks like he’s going to be prone to defensive lapses, at least early as well.
