Here’s my RANT;
Extraordinary overreaction when things don’t go as planned.
It’s not a perfect world. Even with success, there will be backslides of failures and bad decisions. So today’s thing is a teeth grinder, but it doesn’t mean all is lost or that we’re likely to be 1-7 in conference. Is it possible? Sure. But it’s also entirely possible that attitudes, player roles, and performance improves.
All of this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Woodson era will be a success, but it doesn’t discount that it might be.
I need this to be right! I am hoping we turn it around and win tomorrow. I do however think the most likely scenario is we lose both this week and this social media stuff isn't giving me the warm and fuzzy feeling that their heads are in the right place.

It's sad that we expect to lose to Penn State right after losing to NW at home which was right after blowing a 21 point lead to a mediocre Iowa team...and I hate it.

What type of basketball do we want to play? I have no earthly idea.

I've tried listening to Evans a few times but I'm just not a fan. I'll just leave it at that.

Super competitive people like Brian hate to lose.  Absolutely hate to lose.  I am this way too.  Or was.  It's the mindset we need to find in recruits.  It's maybe harder to find in this generation but its out there without question.

I see his points.  He can be a little over the top but i get it.  He's right about a lot of his takes.  Its the things it takes to win.  Winning isn't easy.  Talent helps but hard work goes a long way.

He had a line in the podcast about having some pride and guarding your guy and don't let them go around you.  Sometimes its as simple as that.  I've been screaming this from the mountain tops all season.  We don't guard like we need to guard individually.  I think their mindset is they can switch , or Trayce will block it, or the next guy will get them. I don't know but the day I see our guys guard hard and with a passion and purpose is the day we start winning basketball games.

Hate losing more than like winning. There are still kids with this mindset and I know quite a few myself. They are out there.

To get to .500 after 8 conference games we need to win three out of four of these upcoming games:

@PSU

Wisconsin

@Illinois

Michigan State

At this point I doubt we win more than one (if any) of those games. Hopefully that doesn’t happen as losing 3/4 will put us at 2-6 in the conference and we can stick a fork in the season.

You're not the first and won't be the last that has mentioned fooling around, lack of focus, dancing during warm-ups etc...Probably a product of why we lack focus and commit dumb turnovers during the game.,..and are getting are ***** kicked by the first media timeout. Where are Woodson and the assistants during this?

I’ve heard Don Fischer say the same thing, about pre-game goofing around, on several podcasts over the past few weeks.

Hey...but those practice 1/2 court shots must be working! Galloway hit one at the end of the game.

In all seriousness...lets work on our 235th ranked foul shots during warm-ups instead of 1/2 court shots...it might help us win a game.

The post they responded to was very mild and something you see posted all the time. The fact it set off our players shows their thin skin. Responding on social media isn’t going to stop the posts. Responding on the court will. But the former is a lot easier to do than the latter, and unfortunately it’s been this team’s primary response.

Barstool got what they wanted out of the post: IU players to respond so they can make an article out of it. The IU players, all upperclassmen and old enough to know better, fell for the troll.

Everyone playing in the B1G is a 3 game winning streak from moving the needle on their season.   Season is long and unless your an elite team your team is going to have ups and downs.   IU could have won both these last 2 games and be sitting 3-1 with everyone feeling good and run into a 5 game losing streak.     IU could lose the next 4 and be 1-7 and figure something out and finish 11-9 and that would be their best finish in the B1G in years.    Who knows what happens.    All They have proven so far is that they are not a top 4 seeded team like most hoped.   What’s that mean?   I don’t see a clear cut favorite in the B1G beside Purdue so every game should be a grind with a chance to win

If anyone wants to keep track my guess would be IU is 8 wins away in the regular season from being a tourney team (9-11).  That should be the minimum but I believe with their sos and non con sos loads better then last year and a top 18 road win winning 8 more B1G games would get them in.   Only reason I bring this up is because people are saying they are toast already 4 games into the B1G season.  Got to string some games together and play better but they are far from dead

I’m sure he says some good things, I’m just not a big fan of him personally. Every time I’ve been around him he was either an A-hole or drunk. Plus there was some stuff with his family and working at Cook that left a bad taste in my mouth. But yes he knows what he’s talking about.

As someone who typically is furious after losses and then talks themself into winning the next game after a few days, that’s where I’m at right now. However, this team needs some leadership to step up. The commenting on barstool IU post is just pathetic. That is one of the worst accounts on all of social media and the players just losing their cool on there is completely soft. I love this team and I want nothing more than for them to succeed no matter how angry I get with them on game days but somebody needs to step the **** up and lead.

I still think Woody can be a good coach for us but he has to stop being so stubborn and adjust. He went to the zone on Sunday and it was working and then we just stopped. We go small at times and make runs and then we put the same guys back in. Just go all in on what’s working and let’s win games man come on.

The players are so soft for this…. Explains a lot! Upset at fans for being disappointed. The fans have good reason to be frustrated and upset. This basketball program/university doesn’t deserve the fan support they have. Constantly producing mediocre results whilst receiving the fan support of an elite program. At some point, it’s gotta to start being an equitable arrangement.
