Not firing Allen and but also not making a statement says, "we really, really don't care about football. In fact, we couldn't care less. I'm not even going to bother with the effort to address the elephant in the room, that's how little I care." I'm not sure that's what he wants people to think hoopsta007 1 Quote

If the basketball rumors were true and he had Brad as his #1 certainly interested and when that did not happen he was able to get a strong #2. The #2 then was allowed to build a staff a developmental group and other core staff members. I am hopeful he takes the same approach with football and goes hard after his top candidates, has a backup plan and can also build a strong overall program/staff. hoopsta007 1 Quote

In this case, Allen is 3-23 in the conference over the last three seasons. That’s about as bad as you can be. go iu bb 1 Quote
AKHoosier Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Firing Tom Allen would be a start, but we have to make a wholesale commitment to football. If we don't, our next coach will still get Tom Allen results. MemphisHoosier, theriverpilot, hoopsta007 and 3 others 6 Quote
cbp4iu Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 I would like it this week for Dolson to make a public statement if he’s actually staying. If he’s staying just get it over with. I don’t want to have any hope of him getting fired cthomas 1 Quote

The team might find out close to game time and I hope they do. I think we may be good enough to beat the bastahrds if our guys are hyped enough. monskisprodigy 1 Quote

cthomas Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 The problem is the as it has been for as long as I have followed IU football, which is a ridiculously long time. We can't compete with the big dogs of college football. Not in terms of stadiums, other facilities, or alumni football bases. If we had a great coach he would be out of here on the first train after success. At least in basketball we have tradition to sell. What do we have in football that would interest anyone? I have accepted that what we are and what we have always been is who we will always be. I have watched this since the late 50's and at this point hope no longer is eternal. Quote

And/or Dolson does not have a prospective and agreeable head coach candidate in the wings of the stadium. Or the Trustees and/or the top administration are not in agreement because they love LEO. I have more... MemphisHoosier 1 Quote
cbp4iu Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 If Tom Allen is fired we would assume we hear by next week- early December right? If we go 3/4weeks without hearing info that means he’s back to lead us to another 2/3 win season. I mean we would want OUR guy by January for transfer portal reasons and to re-recruit our players. Also if Tom Allen is back…. Dolson normally does an end of the season press conference? If he does would that be the time where he states “Tom Allen is our guy.” I feel like the worst case of scenario is Dolson does release a statement in the lines of “Tom Allen is our guy and is the guy I trust to turn this around…” Is there any chance Tom Allen is here next season and the year after that?
