Gotta confess, I don’t see this one. But Demps isn’t a dumb guy and Jackson played a long time in the League. Would have been longer with a little less crazy. Imagine Mgbako will be a more efficient player than Jackson was.

Let’s keep him away from the stands just in case

Does Sparks beat out Reneau for minutes on this team?

I could easily see Sparks taking minutes from Ware.

Agree, Sparks is a great option because:

1. He’s a good, if limited, player. Even if Ware and Reneau are healthy and very good, the sophomore wings contribute efficiently, Mgbako plays quite a bit of 4, Sparks will still have a role.

2. Reneau played less as a frosh because of foul trouble and TJD. If Sparks takes his minutes, I think it’ll be nights when Malik hits two or three early fouls, Sparks fills in nicely, and CMW rides the hot hand.

3. For all his upside, there are downside risks aside from injury and foul trouble for Ware. Sparks is a crucial insurance policy for that, whether it’s chronic or just a couple nights.

…and I should add that Sparks/Ware may be able to play together if e.g. Sparks marks Edey or Dainja or Dickinson while Ware can roam helpside guarding a 4, whether just to give Malik a rest or otherwise.

Ware's ability to shoot from the perimeter and well as drive the ball would allow Ware and Sparks to be on the court at the same in certain circumstances.

This wasn't a bad read.  Said he's put on 20 pounds this offseason. Also said he rushed some things last year when it talked about his woeful shooting.  It'd be great if he could make a jump to give some help at guard.

Calbert will "fix" him.

There's a question...will Gunn make a jump from Freshman to Sophomore on the court?

Similar to the questions that could be, and are being, asked about Every. Single. Player. On. The. Indiana. Men's. Basketball. Team.  Not to mention questions about Coach Woody's and the staff's substitutions, play styles, adaptions, development of players, bench depth, guards, shooting, defense, teamwork, & etc.  We could write a book listing and trying to think through variations and answers to those questions.

We are in for a roller coaster year.

And who is popping for Peacock and BTN+?  And can I come over for the games? Have bourbon and beer.  Will travel.

Lots of talk about Gunn and whether he will be able to contribute but that goes for just about every player, even guys like Ware.

Ware may have the most god given tools on the team but if guys like Reneau and Sparks are playing better, it is what it is

Just a little closer to no longer having OOC marquee matchups. Bad decision if they were to do this. In fact I'd say the right approach is to go the opposite direction and back to 18.

I'm a fan. Dump more of the crap OOC games.

I don't really understand why we need to play Kennesaw St at all. We play 7 games against teams we have no business playing games against, imo. Can we narrow that down to 3-4?

22 games conference

3-4 good OOC games

2-3 games vs. poor OOC teams

The problem is though teams won't schedule the "tough" games with fewer games to play. They'll just keep the "cupcakes" and eliminate the 3 or 4 "tough games". Otherwise I'd agree with your idea.

I would think a simple directive by the conference could eliminate that.
