There’s no chance of this. I know you hate Adidas, but not happening.

UCLA's deal with Jordan Brand, Nike is worth an average of about $7.7 million a year. UCLA's deal with Jordan Brand and Nike pays out less than half of what the university received annually in its previous contract with Under Armour.

EDIT: Looks like they didn't leave UA, UA left them. My apologies lol.

Chris...I do appreciate your bringing info to the board. I really do. But at this point with the Stevens fiasco, and everybody going bats__t over the rumor du jour, unless you can tell me that you got this info from Dolson, or the interviewees themselves, you can understand my skepticism.
And I probably should not have said "we don't know who Dolson has talked to". That was probably (or is) an exaggeration on my part. A couple of you guys are connected far better than 99.9% of us. But at this point, color me skeptical until the presser with Dolson.
Every tweet or post about the coaching search is speculation. That is why it should be met with skepticism

They voluntarily left $7m on the table to go with Nike. Why can't IU do the same?

UCLA did not leave the deal Under Armour backed out and UCLA is suing them for doing so.

Too stupid to do it.

As terrible as the waiting is, I hope this drags on. I want Dolson to at least sit down with those tourney coaches. Maybe they all say they're not interested but it only takes one. If Dolson talks with the likes of Musselman, Drew, or someone like Moser and decides that Woodson is still the best candidate then I'll trust him. It just worries me that there are rumors that we haven't talked to any of them.

Whose list? BtownBanners' or Dolson's?

LOL I would say the universal list had Stevens and Beard as 1 and 2. as for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, they are up for debate but would include Musselman and Oates Belien, Matta, Poter Moser, FIfe, Lewis, Woodson, and a few others.  I love  @Chris007 's insight. I just find it hard to believe that Dolson went from Stevens to Thad Matta as 1 and 2. Not saying that isn't what Chris was told, but in my opinion in no scenario is Matta your #2,  if we're already at Matta then that means our 2nd and probably 3rd and 4th choices said no. Which is scary to me.

Not if 2-4 are in the Sweet 16 IMO

Right -how can we not have interest in any of the coaches in the sweet 16?

To be honest, once I got over the fact we were not getting CBS, I am enjoying this. My only desire for a somewhat quick resolution has to do with the current players on the team.

If it weren't for this, I would be casually following the tournament (like the previous several years). Now I watch the games with - Is that the future IU coach? What do I think of his offense and defensive style? Presence off the court? I especially enjoyed watching the TT/Arkansas game because of that.

Do you have inside info? or why do you say "not happening" UCLA dropped Adidas, then under Armour, and now they are in the S16

I know how it works, yes. And I’m not seeing any correlation there. Coaches don’t have pull to change an entire university’s apparel deal.

Why wouldn’t Dolson’s list include Beard, Musselman, Drew, Oats, Beilein, etc.? They’re on posters’ lists because those are the best coaches who could be available. If they’re not on Dolson’s list but Mike Woodson is then that is an enormous problem.

Fully agree. I don't like some of the names you mention but it's common sense. Even from a casual fans perspective. You look at the coaches at the big schools who are currently winning. Not an an NBA assistant who has never coached college basketball.

Depending on what you believe, it appears Matta is out. Either he wasn't interested, or he was and wasn't healthy enough.

I will say this: If healthy and committed, he would have been a great hire. His resume is more complete than any candidate out there.

I think Beilein will be who we eventually hire.  I think he'll be a good coach but won't recruit great. We should at least be making the tourney every year. Still hoping for one of the big 4

Oats

Musselman

Beard

Drew
