Hiring a college basketball coach—especially at a place like Indiana—is a process. The best hires don’t happen overnight, and the ones that do are often the ones that were never going to move the needle in the first place. If you look at the highest-level coaching moves in recent years, they tend to take time, often because they involve someone who isn’t easily available or doesn’t need to rush into a decision.

There’s a reason why things have been quieter than some expected. When the right pieces are moving behind the scenes, you don’t need a public spectacle. The best decisions are made with patience, persistence, and an unwavering vision for the future.

It’s always interesting to see how these things play out, but one thing is clear: when you’re aiming for something (or someone) truly game-changing, it’s worth waiting for the right moment.
