2025 NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament Discussion
Helgo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Grinding out in the half court will keep a team in almost any game, but also makes a team susceptible to horrible loss as it leaves most poor teams in as well. -

Landing the big fish isn’t as easy as it used to be. Look at most recent hirings - even at the most historically elite programs and that becomes obvious. The $ playing field has leveled substantially with NIL/Coach pay/etc. in addition, many coaches and their families value stability. Getting 5-6 years (or more) at $4M per year to turn something around vs 3 and $6M per year has its appeals. Lower stress, more time to build your way, etc.

This is why I’m 100% on board now. All year I have commented/complained to other fans that IU was just a collection of high prices players. They were not a team and the pieces didn’t fit together to make a team.
-
Where can I see both crash outs?

What are the WVU boards people are reading?

He said Iowa, not Iowa State. Hawks are a disaster
-
Well, ok, but we all have emotional attachments to where we grew up. So, while they may not be different, the emotional attachment may be quite different.
-
With the Iowa or IU job being more attractive to Devries / McCollum, keep in mind that decisions aren’t purely about money and NIL. Sometimes fit and emotion are bigger determinants. Both those guys are from Iowa. Just a thought
-
Honestly, they may have a decent case. Put their resume next to UNC and it seems very fishy - especially when UNC AD was the the committee chairman
-
Agree. Dude wins games. That what we all really want, right?
-
Same thing every cycle. Everyone gets sucked into the Brad, Jay drama before getting something mid to underwhelming. A ‘home run’ would be Beard or McCollum. Most of this other stuff is nothing more than wishful thinking
-
I’m an IU and Iowa state alum. It’s not Otz
-
I’ll gladly eat crow if it’s Stevens, and I hope it is. I just don’t see it
-
Otz and Drew simply won’t happen. Not sure about Lloyd.
-
Every coaching search here seems to end that way. Everyone gets excited at the possibility of Stevens, only to get Archie or Woodson.
