As far as I know, he wanted a shorter amount of years but a higher per-year salary, an assured abundance of NIL each year, and a certain amount of money for the assistant pool.

Let's assume that Stevens is the next coach for a bit.  Is anyone here worried about the expectations and if he can really live up to them.  He has been out of the college scene for several years now. Will the fan base give him enough time to get things right or will he need to produce in year 1.

There's no doubt our fanbase is impatient. IMO, this is just bc we're sick and tired of being mediocre and know what could be here. 

Brad is the one hire that will get ultimate patience. Everyone else - probably not.

I've heard the same thing from a number of people - I'm not nearly as connected as people on here but I have lived in Btown since college - let's just say 30+ years - and do know some people - mostly IT in AD. Many of them have said 'yeah it seems to be all over the place info-wise' - or more likely it's made to look that way. Makes sense - stuff is gonna get out - what's the easy way to keep people guessing? When something 'correct' gets out put out some fake info as well.

I am sure Scott has a timeline in mind.  The beauty of it is he can work on Stevens now since he's not coaching.  Can't really do anything "official" with May, Cronin, etc. until their seasons are over.  So he's go between now and the end of the Big Tournament to nail down Stevens.  If he doesn't, he has a week to prep and switch to the next guy or guys depending on how long their NCAA tournament runs last.  He's either going to announce Stevens the day after Woodson is done, or take a few days to get the next guy.  We'll know soon.  :)

One thing I will say and agree with Rabby on is if it's a college coach the expectations for me in year 1 won't be as high as normal. The reason why is the portal is opening earlier and the time for it being opened is shorter. So if we hire a coach who makes it to the elite 8 he won't have as much time as others. I don't know just trying to be realistic.

Doesn’t make sense that he didn’t have an assured abundance of nil prior to that point.

Surely you're joking.  No other coaches can even talk about IU directly with Scott right now.  All he can do is his background work (i.e.; what brand of scotch the Beard like) and maybe chat with an agent or two "hypothetically."  Still a long way to go.
