Haven't heard anyone mention John Scheyer, so I'll throw that name out there as a contrarian option. He's been the primary recruiter at Duke since Capel left. Lead contact for guys like Tatum, Jones brothers, and Ingram. Coach K understudy. Young and energetic. X's and O's guy who knows how to run an offense.

I've mentioned it before. It wasn't well received.

He won’t win until he is 72.  We don’t have any shooters for his offense.

We do have shooters in Leal, Franklin, Stewart, and Lander. I think part of the problem was the coaching staff and having players play tight. Beilein has a history of player development and offensive fluidity. Plus he has scholarships to use to get a player he needs.

As much as I would love Stevens, I don't see IU waiting until June.
If the hire is announced this week, it is Beilein or Matta. If announced after that, it is a coach currently in the NCAA or NIT.
My list is in other thread.

I think if Stevens wanted to come, and that's a huge IF, IU happily waits until whenever he's ready.

EDIT: ...and drives everyone on this board absolutely bonkers!

Unless the honeymoon deteriorated rapidly over the last 7 months, I don't see how it could possibly already be over. Maybe if they have an early exit in the playoffs?

Or we are going to pay him more money to be closer to family, coach half the games, and have a place to coach for the next 30 years. Nobody will argue that the Boston Celtics organization is more prestigious than the Indiana Basketball program. But there are a lot of factors outside of that. Stevens grew up idolizing Bobby Knight and dreamed of coaching IU. It may not happen but there are a lot of reasons for him to come here that may not meet the eye, at first.

don’t be surprised if he doesn’t accept our offer.... bc it’s coming.

If the tournament comes and goes and we've yet to have a new coach named, wouldn't it be pretty safe to say there's a great chance it's Stevens? Who else would there be to wait on?
