Hopefully whoever the new coach is can look at the fact that Kanaan Carlyle's shot rate is four times what Leal's is and reach the conclusion that isn't right.

There are many examples of mid-major coaches being successful at bigger programs but unfortunately there are many, many cases of them bombing. We all know which category describes Archie.

I remember an article at the time where a journalist had anonymously polled a list of coaches as to the best hire in the B1G in 2017. About two-thirds said Archie, about 20% said Holtmann and about 10% said Underwood.

I remember one of the talking heads being interviewed right after the Archie hire.  Might have been DeCourcy, but I’m not sure now.  He was asked if Archie failed at IU, what would be the reason.  He was shocked at the question.  He said something to the effect of, “I never even thought of that.  I hadn’t considered it.  I just don’t see any way he will fail.”  I was never anywhere near that confident, lol.

Funny how the story says Chris Beard's name keeps popping up, but cites only Rick Pitino endorsing him and Rick Bozich speculating that he might be a candidate. 

From that, we go to "Indiana expected to pursue" Beard. 

Um, no. You cannot draw that conclusion from those two pieces of non-news.

The committee has done/is doing quite a bit of background work on Beard. No idea where that ultimately goes. alan huss is an interesting name. i think he's a little further down the list of candidates today, but an interesting name. No coach has signed any agreements, no coach has been hired to this point. still work to be don but some really good options

I’ll say this for Beard despite being in the no group for him, it would be nice if we hired someone who actually wanted the job. Feeling like we are begging people to come resurrect the program is tiring. 
 

That said, my guess is Beard is going to be willing to crawl to every big job that opens until someone gives him a chance to be in a fishbowl again. I don’t doubt he has some affinity for RMK and maybe that makes the job special to him, but I’d guess he would have walked to Lexington or Louisville as well given the chance.
