Morning everyone. Just wanted to give an update. I know we all have heard a lot of bs recently so I want to make it clear that I am not guaranteeing anything.

last night there was a shift. People in my circle and people I hear things from went from confusion to all thinking a deal is in place with an announcement in march. Sometime after the regular season, maybe before the big ten tournament but probably before the ncaa tourney.

im starting to think that I jumped the gun on Friday and got a little excited and starting saying we were further along than we were, and that’s on me. If you think about it logically, why would IU announce the next head coach when ours is still coaching? Especially with how nasty woody is being behind the scenes. I do think the Goodman post was intentional to keep noise down because we have a ways to go, again i refer to nick saban saying he will never be the coach of Alabama 13 days before it was announced the coach of Alabama. Obviously if he hasn’t signed yet he could back out at anytime.

if you think I am full of it I understand, I don’t claim to be an insider, I just share things I hear from people who are usually accurate on what they say, but this is where I stand. Go Hoosiers!

There are parts I could potentially buy, like waiting until March or the NIL/assistant pool. Moving to March after saying two weeks then saying signing Monday, no. I don't buy the terms either, I can see deep pockets throwing the vault at Stevens but I don't buy the 6 years with coach's option part at all.

FWIW Bloomington people i know that donate mid-high level think it’s May or Cronin.  But they don’t know either.  Connected to Hoosier Hysterics.

That matches what I believe which is May All Day.  Cronin fits the narrative Dolson describes.  But the fanbase will have to warm up if it goes that way. Temperature is pretty cold for Cronin.

He would have to win Big to be worth his buyout and contract.

I just can’t see Cronin because of his buyout. Unless there is a way to reduce it.

Speaking of humps and all star games....

How about Mac McClung dunking over anything he wanted last night. Definitely could have made it over the hump. Off topic, sorry. But dang.

Why they still let them dunk over cars or other things is beyond me.

I will say, if it’s Brownell then that men’s IU is not serious about resurrecting its men’s basketball program. I’m going to choose to believe that’s false/fake. I can see him being on a list of a 4th or 5th tier of coaching candidates, but no logical way he’s higher than that. I would rather take an up and comer that Brownell.

Like I said, not gonna let that get me down, because I refuse to believe IU is that unserious about its program.

Did you think they were serious when they hired Woodson?

I will be a very happy man if we end up with may after all of this

I believe Buckner and Ferguson were very serious, but unfortunately not much Dolson could do. If everyone is truly out of the way, and if Dolson goes the Brownell route, then very unserious.

Been going back and forth in my head…

What would be better?

A world where Brad is coach and still have to compete against Dusty every year?

Or Dusty is our coach and we don’t have to compete against Brad? Lol

Cronin is a winner. I wonder how he handles the fishbowl. Also would be curious to see how well he gets along with the coaches in the state. Remember Crean was disliked there towards the end of his tenure. Mick seems far more abrasive.

Dusty May is the only guy, outside of Stevens, that I think checks all of the boxes. This year he checked the last one. He’s about to win the league in year 1 at Michigan. I personally think he turns us down.

Same.  I think his Year 1 success gets the attention of the big money folks at UM and he gets a contract/staff budget/NIL boost and he elects to keep building there.  UM is a good school and lower pressure gig.  All we can offer is perhaps a little more money and easier transfers, but we are also a tire fire.  Not hiring him after last season was likely a huge mistake and just classic IUBB mismanagement.  If we did hire him we would be in fantastic shape right now on the court and recruiting.

On the other hand, maybe he loves IU and is confident Scott and Pam have cleared out the old guard so he feels good enough to jump into the tire fire and fix it.  Fingers crossed.
