General Coach Candidate News

Recommended Posts

Okay I have been thinking ,a lot of people say they can use the job opening  as a way to get a raise at their current job ,could that be possible with say Dusty May ?  I mean anyone who is  not under a rock could see he was going to be gone after bragging about well just wait till its my guys and then proceeds to buy the players over the summer .  Anyway  just thought maybe that is why a low buy out so this time he might get an even better one because he is doing pretty well up there .

Also I keep hearing and ready about everyone under the sun  for coach  .

Plus  something about IU getting into the NCAA tournament ?Seriously ?

I really hope I am wrong on this and Brad is named the next coach at Indiana University

I am happy to eat some crow on this because it would definitely make IU basketball relevant again. By the way I would want ketchup with my crow.

You hope you are wrong?  You said on the last page that *maybe* he might come......You are really confusing at times

That's my guess if you had to put a gun to someone else's head. Stevens would be great. I think May would be great if not better because I would have some concerns about Stevens longevity if he got burned out from coaching in his 30s. Stevens would definitely be the splasher more exciting hire, but May leaving UM would be pretty sweet. Not going to complain one bit if we get either.

I’m just going to say one thing to clear the air

i apologize for being a dick last night

i am an IU fan. I came here to discuss different people’s feelings about what people like and don’t like about the guys being talked about as potentially being the next coach at IU

90% of this forum is Brad Stevens tin foil hat conspiracy stuff man…

if that’s what you guys like.. you do you

BKG-  this isn't a debate society.  If someone disagrees with you, move on and don't take it personally.  You think the Stevens rumors are overblown.  Fine, they probably are.  Let other people have their hope.  There's plenty to discuss in this thread and on this board.  If you want to discuss potential other coaches that's cool.  In another thread someone posted a poll on which coaches fans would prefer.  There are some interesting results.  Anyway, welcome to the board.

I like May a lot more now than I did at this time last year. I have PTSD from hiring the up and comer because of Archie. Seeing what May did with Michigan from where they were last year impressed me. I think he would be a great hire.

Seeing what he has done this year has honestly moved him equal to Stevens for me.   I give a slight nod to Stevens mainly to shut up anyone saying no chance. If in our pursuit of him I hope we can not make May feel like a backup

This is what I’ve been saying from jumpstreet. It makes the most sense in every facet.

What I do know is-Dolson already knows if scheduling talks next year are happening “without” a coach.

If I had to bet my house….
I’m saying Brad doesn’t come to fruition and we get dusty.

In saying that, I’ve heard and seen great things on Dusty, loved the bit on the Journey on him the other night. But my gut, oversized gut, just isn’t sold on him bringing us back to where we used to be.

Hopefully I don’t have to eat crow on that because he won’t get offered, but even if Brad says no, I’ll be happy it’s dusty over woody and will be ready to keep supporting this team 110%.

No matter what. Woodson is gone. We all can be happy with that.

This. I really don’t think this can be overstated. Can anyone (USPS maybe?) remember a major scheduling non-con series like that being announced without the coach in place? Seems highly unusual to me. The head coach is normally very involved with that process.

Also, BKG, Tyme, AH1971 all pushing Mick Cronin so hard. Lol. These guy(s) legitimately want Indiana to fail again. So Woody can still have “2nd best winning percentage” of all coaches since Knight.

Cronin not very popular in the poll.  He has been fairly successful, so I wonder if it is his style of play, personality, or height (hey, don't blame me someone else brought it up)?
