Honest to God, of the dozens of guys we’ve thrown who it’s not gonna be, he might be the most not gonna be.
Except for John Wooden.

Give it 5 years and Wooden’s hologram will be coaching some team

Alright....no one has said it yet. Since we are tossing unrealistic names out.

Back up the brinks truck and dump it in Painter's yard...come make a boat load of money porkchop, and bonus...you get to live somewhere that doesn't smell like doo doo.

Truth is, in Painter’s first 10 years he made 2 sweet 16s and failed to even make the tournament 3 times….Painter would have been fired at Indiana!

Perhaps, you could be right.  He would have got better players here, so a bit hard to know…

Yeah, to be fair, Painter has had some rough losses to double-digit seeds in the NCAA tournament.

Of course, IU hasn't been making the tournament, so there's that...

I’ll defend this fanbase as the best until I’m blue in the face, but even I’ll admit we would have run that MF off for losing to a 16 lol

In reality painter hasn't even been good enough to survive here imo. We would have probably had him begging to leave after his first round exit to the 16 team. Last year we would have said he just can't win the big 1 when he lost to uconn. I feel this season will end disappointing fashion for them. We would now be saying he can't win at elite level

Painter almost left Purdue during one stretch and during another he stunk but he changed his recruiting and has been pretty strong with that.  This stretch had some pretty lean years but perhaps he survived 13-14 because he had some strong recruits coming in 14-15

It’s fun watching posters laugh off some of the names mentioned while simultaneously believing Stevens is gonna leave the Celtics front office to coach here. Good stuff!

It’s fun watching posters $hit on other posters on a FREE MESSAGE BOARD. It is almost like they could go somewhere else. Good stuff!

I know a coach who no one has mentioned who has taken two different Power 4 teams as far in the tournament as they've been in the last 60 years....

A coach with a Final Four on his resume...

A coach who spent 6 years in Midwest...

A coach who spent years as the protege of a Hall of Famer....

If we don't target someone better than what Crean did, then they aren't worth going after. Otherwise, just hire him back and see what he can do with NIL in place. At least we know he loves the place and will work his tail off.

I checked a list of best active coaches and everyone mentioned here is ahead of Stevens so I don't get your comment.
