May has proven this season that he wasn’t a flash in the pan at FAU.  If it’s not Stevens, I’d be thrilled with May.  He’s an elite coach on the rise.

While i agree i think he kinda got gifted unexpected pro in Wolf. He he has a McDonald’s all American coming next year, let him cook

If we as a fan base are treating Cronin like a non starter and ridiculous option I fear we have completely lost perspective. That guy is a winner. Not saying he’s my number one choice but the idea that hiring him would be some terrible mistake is just insane to me.

This 1000%. Can you imagine if IU had hired him 5yr ago and he took the Hoosiers to 3 Sweet 16's and a FF in that time? How awful!

Is he 1, 2 or even maybe 3? Probably not.

But he is a triple bouncing around the outfield that could end up an in the park HR.

Was it mentioned on here that Beard was pissed so made his players go to post-game to answer questions why they lost lol.  I like it

Consequences. Something our program has lacked since 1999.

Just offer Dusty May $10 million to stop coaching his team right now and come be the video coordinator at IU until Woodson retires (because we can't hurt his feelings). Then promote Dusty with his blockbuster contract. Of course the terms of the contract would be agreed upon and signed when he comes over as the highest paid video coordinator in history.

He is my number 1 coach regardless of buyouts, white whales etc.    he is number 1 on my big board.    If it’s me I pay whatever it takes to get him to Bloomington.

I would say that if he were to come to IU he wouldn't be looking to some other job for sentimental reasons because he would have left the place where he would have had that.  I just don't have any idea if he realistically would leave or just be able to use it for a big pay raise at Iowa State.

Once again, feel the love for Beard. He WILL NOT be considered and is not a candidate. Great for him. Go suck a case of light beer and beat another woman. Not here

Talk themselves into a final four coach?

If you thought he was that good his name would've been on blast a long @$$ time ago. Seems that you found a cute little pearl that you're going to shove in everyone's face to convince them that he's the coach we should've been after the whole time. You do you big boy, I'm here for the entertainment factor on this one

One good thing about coach searching season is it gets more eyeballs on college basketball.  Hearing other people outside the diehards in the college basketball thread talk about watching a MVC game brings a smile to my face.

True.  I'm finding more coaches, not less, that I think are good ones.

I’m almost 60.  If Michigan can go from 8-24 to a 4 seed in the tournament in one year, it’s not unreasonable to expect Indiana to skip steps as well.  I mean, guys my age especially lived what we’re capable of, and the fact that we’ve stayed around for 25-30 of mediocrity is pretty remarkable.  But I think it’s time for IU to stop taking that remarkable support for granted.

A 4 seed doesn’t mean chit if you don’t get to week 2.  And in no way does it guarantee a week 3.

Better than terrible <> Great.
Good is the enemy of great.
Hire someone that has proven they’ll be good & that’s what we’ll be.  IU should be GREAT.

Sure.

But Hiring someone that is proven great is not really an option unless by some miracle Stevens is a yes.

So hiring someone is more than an assessment of what they've done; it’s an assessment of what they could be. And some without an .800 win rate is fine;

Schertz is a far better, proven option now than he was a year ago, yet last year he was worshipped by the masses.

Anyone in their right mind would kill for Shaka, and he was crap at Texas. But he was very young and got better.

And you do you, wasting one of your fifty posts per year on a condescending post of no value.

I've never seen precedent for it, for one.

Yeah, it is an odd situation, but it seems like if you were going to hire somebody like BS who wasn’t coaching,  the announcement should be sooner the better IMO.
That’s why I don’t buy all the stuff about smoke screens because why would that be a slight to Woodson when he already announced his retirement?,  and if he cares about Indiana like he says he does, he would want Indiana to get the best coach possible as soon as possible.

That’s what makes guys like May good.  Good things happen to or for them.  May is a good representative/ambassador of progam.

Woodson was gifted $6,000,000 (NIL) +a good salary (undeserving) and not just winning and losing…. but representing program and he and his program doing heartfelt sincere community service representing the institution of what is IU men’s basketball…..Currently, program is not any of this.

Yep.  I remember when Mike Davis came back with Texas Southern to Assembly Hall and was loudly cheered.  Tom Crean would be treated the same way.  Archie Miller would probably get an indifferent response.

I fully expect that Mike Woodson will continue to finger point and blame others to the point where he will never be given a good reception from IU fans EXCEPT by the grey hairs.

You may not want him, but there’s many who do plus want to win big again at Indiana. Something we haven’t done here in a long time. I think a handful could be just as good. Were you a Stevens or die guy just coming out of the haze?

This thread is impossible to keep up with.  I have no clue who IU is targeting but I kind of hoped I could come here to find something tangible.  Instead, most of the posts are fantasies.

There’s no real info from the administration as far as I’m aware so we’re left with what we’ve got.

But if you want to go on a ride: it’s Brad.
